I’m offering for
sale Rivendell, my much proven Mirage 2700 27′ bilge keeler due to
my partner’s dodgy knees making sailing impossible for her and a new
motor home just bought.
Terms- for sale elsewhere so may remove at any time. PLEASE view before offering to buy. Viewings will be accompanied and may include motoring/sailing within Preston Dock.
Please ask me questions! I don’t want to sell to someone without you being sure what you are buying.
A non returnable deposit of 10% will secure the vessel for an agreed period to arrange transfer.
Worst bits- tired
running rigging and canvas (all fully serviceable)

Coming back from Calais a while ago https://youtu.be/7cnUa1EX28c In commission, full
gas/diesel/healthy batteries. ‘On the button’, ready to sail or stay
FOC until July or longer by negotiation with Preston Marina.
I am happy to discuss delivery or showing the new owner how she sails.
She has just been
launched for the season after fresh antifouling, berthed at Preston,
easy to view on her walk on pontoon.
Mirage 2700’s are 5
berth (we’ve berthed 6) with full headroom in the saloon for 6
footers.
Rivendell served me
well on my single hander Round Britain. (just like Stan Lester in his
PBO book

)
My Face Book blog
has many pics and some deathless prose from me…

All lines led aft

Unused (by me)
cruising chute. Main and jib serviceable but well used. Some marks.
Rivendell is a
reliable, safe, dry boat with a good Yanmar twin cylinder engine. She
is quite sprightly, the previous owners used to race her at
Aberdovy. Even more important, she inspires confidence, steers
herself under sail and engine (including astern!). The tiller
steering is responsive, precise and nicely balanced.
The decks are clean
and solid, the windows have some UV marks but are strong and dry.
Standing rigging
renewed 2011 by previous owner, running rigging serviceable.
The carpet on
the hull sides in the forecabin (see pics) is OK but on my todo
list.
I had a new saloon
carpet made and edged last year. Upholstery all OK.
All LED lights (7)

Pumped cold water at
galley and vanity basin in heads.
Ice box, but I used
the bilges when I spent 30 days on board in Scotland

OWNERS COMMENTS;
As soon as you step
on the (spacious) decks of “Rivendell” you get a
reassuringly solid feel underfoot. For such a compact boat the use of
space above and below decks (helped by the generous beam) is
remarkable.
“Rivendell”
has recently (2016) completed a round Britain voyage offering proof
if it were needed that she was designed with real offshore cruising
in mind. Much of that circumnavigation was single handed, which she
is very well set up for.
With her bilge keels
and sturdy construction I think this is a great boat for our Irish
Sea location – and perhaps could be considered as a more stylish (and
better sailing?) alternative to a Westerly Centaur. I also think she
would make a great first proper offshore yacht for someone.
Current Price: £5750.00
