33 foot Van der Stadt steel yacht
RELISTED DUE TO FAKE WINNING BID FROM ZERO FEEDBACK JOKER
This incredible sail boat is a tough rolled steel offshore Bermudian sloop, beautifully designed by E.G. Van de Stadt and built in 1963 at the famous Anne Weaver yard in Holland. The previous owners had her for 36 years and cruised her extensively, around the Mediterranean, Caribbean and North America, crossing the Atlantic several times, with the last crossing single handed via Bermuda and the Azores.
Layout of the boat is with twin berths in the main saloon on either side of a centrally mounted adjustable table. There are storage bins beneath the berths and behind the backrests, with ample additional storage in the cabinets along both sides of the saloon. The galley is to port with a sink, gas hob and oven. To starboard is a navigation table over the battery banks, with a huge storage area to the rear under the cockpit. There is a V berth in the forward cabin with ample storage and access to theforward chain locker.
The Perkins 108 36hp diesel engine is mounted under the companionway steps for easy access. The prop shaft is fitted with a zero leak pressurised oil seal system. The engine may be old but still very reliable and has always been properly serviced and maintained. The engine starts reliably and whilst cruising down through the canals of France to the Mediterranean she averaged only half a gallon per hour.
The main mast is deck mounted which removes the need for any mast foot obstructing below deck. The standing rigging has been upgraded to substantially heavier grade stainless steel. She has a large sail area for when the wind is right. The main sail has roller boom reefing and travels up and down the mast with no issues. The foresail has roller reefing. Two-speed winches are fitted to the mast and on both sides of the cockpit.
The boat is fitted with a Raymarine self-steering system with an electric ram fitted to the tiller. She also has a Nasa Stingray depth sounder and VHF radio. The main compass is fitted to a binnacle in the cockpit.
The boat has recently been out of the water to be jet washed, inspected and had the zinc blocks replaced. She could do with a little TLC and tidy up and then she would be good to go anywhere your heart desires. The galley could do with modernising but it served me well for what I needed.
I bought the boat mainly as a floating apartment and it has served me well me well as a home for just over a year. I am regrettably selling due to a change in circumstances.
Any questions I’ll do my best to answer them or I’ll ask the previous owner.
The boat is currently moored in Eastbourne Marina
