42 Foot Birmabright Aluminium 1958 Planing Motor Cruiser.Welcome to the Auction of ‘Ci Gale’ , she is an Aluminium (Birmabright Alloy) 1958 Motor cruiser in need of renovating back to her former glory. A quick summary follows for people who don’t like reading long adverts…Laid Ashore in Rock , Cornwall. A stunning 1958 project boat that comes weathertight not watertight (Hull Skin fittings removed for new ones to be fitted), previously stripped out and painted, one engine in place, one was a none runner so was removed, both gearboxes select gears and rotate as they should. 42 foot long and 10 foot 6 inches wide. This is definitely a project boat and buyer would need to have the skills or money to get her back on the water and comfortable. Please don’t expect to steam her away. This could make a great houseboat or weekend cruiser when finished. This was constructed between 1958 and 1960 for a ‘Dr Flack’ who was an aircraft electrical engineer to my knowledge. He had his hand in almost every aspect of the build and i have many documents and letters from the build days going into all the details of the build. She also comes with the original registration documents, valuation for insurance purposes, original workshop Blue prints of every part of the vessel , tonnes of information to help with a renovation. She is a hard chine design with a flat belly aft so will get nicely on the plane. Originally powered by a pair of Gardner 5lw engines on separately mounted Meadows gearboxes. There are a lot of letters talking about the max speed and cruising speed and was achieving 18 Knots at 1700 RPM. The bronze props are on 50mm Stainless Shafts and measure 18 x 16.Has retractable landing legs for beaching which is very handy and has a stainless reinforced keel, documents show it was fitted a year after construction was completed. Also is set up for keel cooling with stainless steel cooling pipes down both sides of the underside of the hull entering into the engine room. The exhaust system is a dry system exiting directly through the hull beneath the engine room on either side of the centerline. Please see pictures. One Gardner was in a rough state so was sold, the other one was in much better condition as had been dry stored. It was ran up in the boatyards maint facility before being stored and hands over quite nicely so should be just a case of plumbing in electricty and water/ fuel to it and will be fine. The second engine will need sourcing or a fresh pair to replace them entirely. We had considered having a frame welded up for a pair of outboards as the weight of the vessel would allow for a nice sized pair to really push it along well and would add to available interior space as the engine room is about 12 foot by 10.The shafts turn but are stiff so could do with fresh cutlass bearings etc.Shes not been in the water for some years now but the hull is in such fantastic shape considering. The rudders and stocks/ tie bars etc are all present but not fitted, it was on cable steering before but would easily be fitted out with hydraulic steering instead. Has 4 watertight compartments along the stretch of the hull, its a very well thought out and designed boat. Since getting her we have totally emptied and cleaned her out, stripped off loose paint , re primed and glossed areas before fitting floors down, rebuilt the wheelhouse frame and floor, refitted the engine in place and gearboxes, painted the upper part of the hull above the waterline with 2 Pac Royal Blue International (2 Coats). We also refitted all 23 windows with fresh seals to make her weather tight so as to be able to get on a bit easier. She is laid ashore in a family ran BoatYard in Rock , North Cornwall and the guys there couldn’t be more helpful and have a huge range of marine services on site , they build boats from scratch there and have a wealth of knowledge. Yard fees are circa 1500 per annum and container storage is available on site. If you’d prefer to move the boat there is a boat transport company next door who quoted us 1200.00 to move the boat to southampton, and 2200 to inverness. Please note, these are recent but fresh quotes would need to be obtained, just a guide as to the cost of transporting her away. Please call or message if you’d like to talk more, this is a big project but a lot of it will be interior fit out rather than spending a lifetime maintaining the hull as its pretty much maintenance free physically. Please refer to the photos , I have many more of the progress we have made so far.REASON FOR SALE, NEW BOAT IN THE UK TAKING ALL OF OUR TIME.
