Alba Voyager, built in Brisbane
Australia in 1975 has already voyaged round
the world. She is an extremely strong GRP yacht built especially for ocean
sailing. I am the third owner having bought her in 2000 during which
she has been continually upgraded and is ready sail to anywhere
in the world. She is a cutter rigged ketch allowing the sail plan to
be broken down into very manageable parts. My wife and I have
sailed her for the past 12 years traveling many thousands of miles.
The accommodation comprises forward
cabin with V berth and lots of storage, moving aft the passageway has
clothes storage and separate hanging lockers with 100 litre hot water
calorifier. Main heads with shower to
port. Moving aft again we enter the salon, the salon has the
Dickinson diesel heater, salon table which can be expanded to sit 6
people comfortably or can be converted into a good size double bed.
The salon has a modern TV and audio system which can play most modern
formats of audio and TV through the internet. The salon also has
large storage capacity under and behind the seating areas. From the
salon, companionway steps lead up to the cockpit. Port side of the
companionway steps leads into the workshop and engine room. The
engine has excellent accessibility for maintenance. Starboard side of
the companionway steps there is the galley comprising SS sink, hot
and cold water, salt water and filtered drinking water taps, 2 burner
gimbled stove with grill and oven, top loading fridge. The galley is
extended down the passageway leading to the aft cabin and here you
find microwave oven, food storage and cooking utensils etc. The aft
cabin has a double bed, toilet and washand basin, cloths storage and
hanging locker.
We have lived aboard Alba Voyager for
12 years now and find her very comfortable with all the conveniences
you would find in the average home, so if you are looking for
adventure and travel in safety and comfort then we can certainly
recommend Alba Voyager to you.
Alba Voyager is currently out the water
in Bruce’s Boatyard in Faro, Portugal which is 10 minutes drive from
the airport. Faro airport is serviced by most of the UK Budget Airlines, so cheap
flights are readily available all year round.
