Welcome to this listing of my Roberts 45 classic hull. This is a massive project but one that would make a fantastic blue water cruiser. These hulls were produced professionally in the mid 80s by a company in Bedford and were offered for DIY fit out. This hull has never been finished and has had several owners but never sailed. I purchased this hull about 14 years ago with the aim of making it into a retirement world cruiser. I have done plenty of work on the boat but have purchased other boats now and I confess that it has now been sat for some years and needs to be loved. The hull was originally supplied with a moulded coach roof/ deck but this offered limited headroom below and barring the cockpit and outer deck was completely removed by a previous owner. I fabricated the roof that is now on the boat from laminated oak frames with a plywood top that is covered in a generous lay up of glass fibre. It was clad around the sides in a decorative “utile” plank which was intended to be varnished. This structure is still sound but there are some shakes in the decorative planking. Easiest option would be to cover the whole lot in glass cloth and finish in white gel coat/ paint. Internally she is a “tardis” and everyone that has been on board is surprised by the huge space available below. I was planning the layout shown in the photos and have placed internal bulkheads for this though she could be easily stripped out making a blank canvas. The layout shown has a master en suite cabin in the bow with guest double cabin to port at rear adjacent to steps. Further double berth would be in the saloon and a pilot berth to stbd rear. Good sized heads/ shower room in main cabin and compact heads with shower base in the en suite. U shaped galley with plenty of work surface and nav station adjacent to access steps. As with a lot of older long keeled boats the engine location is central to the boat but could be enclosed under counter / seating and I was even thinking of going electric/ hybrid with the electric motors placed below floor level. There is a massive amount of space below the floor level for tankage and storage and tho top part of the keel is a very large sealed tank that could be used for water storage. The deck had teak glued and screwed but this was all lifting from age and was removed though I still planned a teak deck and roof. The large rectangular hole that can be seen in the roof has a low dog house style structure to be fitted…this is made and will need assembling and fitting. The plan was to have a deck stepped mast but there is a moulded in plate on the top of the keel that would accept a keel stepped mast. There are frames solidly glassed into the sides of the boat that would take chain plates but nothing has ever been fitted. I believe that these boats were fitted with lead ballast to the tune of 5t encapsulated within the keel and indeed the lower half of the keel is very solid when tapped. I think that the all up gross tonnage would be about 11 making a very comfortable heavy displacement safe yacht. This listing is for the hull as it is, I have over the years purchased many items for the boat including a very sturdy mast, port lights and even oak doors for internal cabinets. These items may be for sale by separate negotiation but I am very happy to keep them or list separately.I recommend that you come and have a look before you think of buying as this in not a project to be taken on lightly. The boat is stored at Red Hill marina which is located 5 minutes from the M1 and very close to East Midlands airport. The boat can be stored and worked on where she is and would have to be authorised and negotiation with the marina office. I can arrange viewings to suit and welcome sensible questions contact me on 07971186909. Cash on collection / sale only do not hit buy now and pay with pay pal. Thank you for looking
