A very rare and unique opportunity to acquire a real adventure dream: a 48ft shallow draft carbon fibre cruising yacht (converted from a racer by the original builder) and to live aboard her in London. Could be moved on straight away.(To clarify, not just the mast/boom but the whole hull is heavily built in carbon fibre consisting of a structural closed-cell foam AIREX core and outer and inner carbon fibre and epoxy skins. This would cost upwards of £250K to build today. The hull is also positively buoyant.) Vessel is currently out of the water in London for maintenance and is accessible for inspection. Her permanent mooring is in Kingston upon Thames within a lovely and considerate boating community. It’s a very secure mooring in a great area and with a nice view. It comes with its own parking space for cars/bikes and the mooring fee is very reasonable.The boat is a spacious ex-racer (4m beam!) with a brilliant racing history. She set some fastest leg times in her races. Where she was raced singlehandedly under this rig and it is set up for short-handed sailing. Lots of interesting history. Now converted to a fast cruising yacht. Strong and tough ocean sailer, she has been all over the world including the Caribbean, South Africa, the Mediterranean, Scottish lochs and the North Sea. And with her shallow draft she was sailed through the French canals to Scotland. Now imported to the UK with VAT paid.The interior has good headroom (6’3” to 6’5”). It comprises 5 cabins, two with en-suite, two others with own washbasins. Each will sleep two people. There’s a spacious saloon, semi-separate L-shaped galley with a large stainless sink and another shower and head, plus a large sail locker in a separate forepeak compartment. The interior has been stripped off and needs redecorating. This is a spacious and luxurious full time liveaboard once this is finished. The engine is a lovely 3 cylinder Volvo Penta which starts on the button with no issues. Just fully serviced. Also, new through-hulls, anode, saildrive seal (and full service). New propeller, paint and antifouling. Delta anchor and 60m chain with new marking etc. Some work would be needed on the bolt-on ballast to the lifting keel to make her ready for adventure when launched. We are just getting her ready for new paint although the new owner will, of course, have the option to finish her in black carbon fibre in clearcoat.
Also work would be needed on electrics/electronics and other than that this is a complete boat with all her components and equipment present and included in the sale.Her 18m ‘Freewing’ carbon fibre mast and 4 sails are all in good useable condition and are currently in storage.
