This is a very lovely yacht that has a July 2018 survey to prove she is sea worthy and in good condition for her age. I bought her from a friend over a year ago to help them out and to also give me a hobby in restoring her and sailing her. I have spent a lot of time and money having items the surveyor recommended corrected and she has been professionally painted from yellow to beautiful bright white hull (International paint – Toplac Antique White) and anti fouled in dark green. She’s had brand new windows professionally fitted and a new cutlass bearing (amongst other items) to ensure she is well on her way to being restored to her former glory. She is a factory production model (as opposed to a home build model) and a rare centre wheel steering version with optional emergency tiller if needed. I have a lot of paperwork for this boat, including the original factory order that specified a 50% increase on GRP lay up on the bulk heads, making her a VERY strong and sea worthy boat. She also had additional extras such as larger stainless steel fuel tank and the Mark 2 model larger rig. Her previous owner added a new Eberspacher hot air system (fully working with programmable timer), plus Rutland 914i Wind Generator and new house and engine batteries, LED lighting, TV and deck fittings (all 2017/18). She has also just had her Zodiac 4 man life raft professionally serviced for the next few years (certificate available). There is a new Standard Horizon VHF DSC radio installed and a Plastimo roller furling Genoa (new in Feb 2018). Sails wise, she has a good condition Genoa, Storm Jib, Main Sail, Spinnaker (looks like its rarely been used and in VGC) plus Spinnaker boom. She has good condition spray hood and dodgers, anchors, warps, fenders and Zodiac life raft and mounting frame (see below). She also has lazy jacks and stack pack that were newly installed in 2018.Engine was rebuilt in 2001 and is a very reliable single cylinder Yanmar YSE 12 (no smoke and good compression according to the engineer who serviced her this year – invoice available – Separate video of engine running this week available on request). Engine water pump has developed a very slight leak which requires fixing – no big deal if you know about these things (probably a gasket). Otherwise, it’s a very reliable, efficient and simple engine. So here’s why she’s up for sale, I was in the process of having her re-rigged (surveyors recommendation as rigging is 12 years old) and have found there is a crack in the base of the mast (not boat – just mast foot – see photo). The rigger is advising the best option is to replace the mast with new or second hand, as there has also been a repair at the base of the mast in the past that may weaken the mast if it is not replaced). It may be fixable for someone with access to an engineer who knows what they are doing, or alternatively, you could arrange for rigger to replace the mast with a modern mast, or second hand mast (at your cost obviously). Either way, she currently requires the mast sorting and I don’t have the time, technical skill or money to complete this task. I’ve written off the money I’ve spent on this project and would like to sell her to someone who can complete her and enjoy her. I would like to give some of the proceeds of this sale to a charity I believe strongly in called ‘Compassion’. They support children around the world by providing education, basic health checks and Christian values. We get to worry about things like Brexit and boats and sailing. They worry about their safety each night and if there’s going to be food to eat tomorrow. If you want to know how lucky we are and regain perspective on life, then I would strongly urge you to sponsor a child via Compassion UK. Hence, please bid generously and have the funds ready so you can own the yacht and I can move on and help those in more need than us.My Yacht is currently afloat in Portland Marina and the mast is waiting for me to make a decision with the local rigger as to what I want to do – Decision now made today to sell her to someone else who has more time and money and know how than me! Mast needs collecting and re-stepping if you want to repair it (you would need to pay the rigger direct for this and sort your own transport etc) On completion of this auction, the Yacht would either need to be motored from Portland marina to your choice of final destination (currently no mast on her) OR craned and carried by road transporter to your final destination (at your cost), OR you could pay the marina for her berth (you pay for each month you stay – approx £250 a month from memory) and commission the very excellent rigger I have been using to complete the replacement of the mast and rigging and sail her away in a month or two. If you don’t remove her within a week of the auction, you will be responsible for the monthly mooring fees as the owner of this Yacht, (berthing is payable direct to the Marina). You will not be tied in to a minimum term contract and the Marina provide a full set of very good services, including crane lift, engineering and cradle storage in their yard if you wanted to work on her there. You will be taking over full ownership and normal mooring/storage costs for her on purchase as her new owner.I have full paperwork to prove her ownership and she is a genuinely fabulous 4 berth, 28 foot cruiser. I sailed her from Fowey in Cornwall last year, around Portland Head in heavy conditions and she behaved beautifully. She is really well made and designed and a testimony to the British design team that produced these. There is no osmosis and there are excellent meter readings from the surveyor. She still needs some TLC to finish her off but she is 75% plus of the way there and will put many more expensive boats to shame in terms of build quality and handling and cruisability when completed. Please ONLY bid if you are committed to owning this yacht and have the funds to pay within 24 hours. There are many dreamers on Ebay and this boat is for someone who recognises a real world opportunity. I reserve the right to end the auction early without any liability to anyone who has bid as I am also in conversation with some friends who may wish to buy her, or, I will keep her and complete her if my circumstances change before the end of the auction. Any questions, then please ask. Photo’s and video explain what you are bidding on. This is a genuine Ebay opportunity for someone with more money than me to go sailing and have a basically sound boat to complete the way they would like it.
