Meet the ‘Star’!BEFORE YOU READ FURTHER – lets talk about MOORINGSI’ve had a ton of interest however no one thinks about where they are going to keep the boat. Its currently in Portishead Marina – they are no longer accepting liveaboards. If you want to live aboard please look into marinas that will accept liveaboards. She is a 32ft x 10ft stunning Miller Fife. Built in 1962 in Scotland, she is a wooden motor sailer with a beautiful dual mast ketch rig. She weighs 10T and has a 5ft draft.I have owned the boat for 2 years predominantly as a home and a really fun project during lockdown. I bought her in a bit of a neglected state and have since been restoring her to good health. She has been an amazing home during the pandemic and I am now looking to sell her as I plan to dissappear travelling now normality is returning. The Galley has a two hob burner and a beautiful tiled work top. It also has a small sink with a Jabsco water pump plus an inline water filter system. Plenty of storage under and above the counter. There is a normal 240v household fridge in the wheelhouse. The head is a Jabsco sea toilet which pumps straight through the hull. The main cabin consists of a large sofa that converts into a comfortable double bed. There is a desk with more seating, bookshelves and of course the essential wood burner for those chilly winter nights aboard. The captains quarters will comfortably sleep two, however the sofa can also accommodate two guests (you can squeeze another in a hammock down the centre gangway too for the ful pirate experience).Under the bed is a very large storage area – I use this as my shed. There is also a good sized wardrobe either side for a his and hers diverision of clothing.I have installed all the electrics myself, both 12v and 240v set ups. All properly wired to standards into a consumer unit. There are 8 x 240v sockets on board and a hook up input for shore connection. the 12v set up has two fuse boxes, one for below deck and another for the wheel house. There are several USB ports located around the boat as well. There is a solar panel for the 12v system which will charge the leisure battery. The wheelhouse comes equipped with new navigation compass, isolators for the engine and echo sounder for gauging depth. The steering is a newly installed hydraulic set up. She has three bilge pumps installed, all of which can be operated from the control panel.
The engine is a big 4l marinized Ford Lehman 2712. This was a second hand engine installed by myself and a marine engineer back in 2019 as I orginally bought the boat without one. Its a tank of a thing and is pretty much bombproof. Very simple to work on/maintain too (easier than a car) so if you can use a set of spanners you’ll do just fine. I have recently been reconditioning some of the old parts too (just for fun) so the cooling system for example is looking very sexy with polished brass and fresh paint. I have only been using the port side fuel tank as the other was very dirty and I havent got round to cleaning it.She has a Ketch rig, so two masts and booms, a bow sprits, and all metal cable riggings. This isn’t set up yet as I have also been restoring the masts, however everything is boxed, stored and accounted for. She also has two sets of sails. She is a motor sailer so this would mostly be used to stabilize and assist the engine. She is now back in the water after a long summer working on the hull. I have had two large planks on the starboard side replaced due to some rot. This work was completed by professional shipwrights who specialise in tradidtional wooden boats. They did a fantastic job and checked the rest of the hull over for peace of mind. I have also done the antifouling paint and refreshed that regal green around the upper hull, so she is now looking very fresh. I have also replaced a few seacocks and the toilet waste pipe. I have also recently reglassed, recaulked and sealed the deck, and finished off with some fresh paint. The paint I use is International, very high quality so shouldnt need doing for many years! The pictures arent too accurate at the moment as a lot has changed. (for the better)I am happy to arrange and fund delivery of the boat for the right person (up to a 200 mile radius)Please come and see the boat for yourself, and I can give you a proper tour. She would make a fantasic home for a young person like myself who cant really afford to buy a house. And it really is a sweet life waking up everyday on the water.I am open for offers, however I am not in a hurry to sell. I dont really want to see the old girl go, so looking to sell to a like minded person who can look after her and keep me updated on hows she doing.Call anytime, or drop me a message on Whatsapp. Thanks for viewing!
