Owners Comments
For the past few months Loreley has been the subject of a steady servicing programme for the rigging/mechanicals/electrics and where necessary has had all recommended upgrades/servicing/replacements carried out ready for extended cruising.
For a yacht under 12 metres there is an extraordinary amount of light airy space below and utilising the main cabin area, there is sleeping accommodation for 7 adults and a child.
Loreley is easily sailed short-handed, having a gentle motion in a seaway and standing up to more testing conditions in a reassuring manner. Under engine power she cruises at 6 knots at only 1900rpm, burning approximately 5 litres per hour (over 500 mile range!) but can easily cruise at 7 knots at higher rpm at the expense of greater fuel consumption. Max 3000rpm.
Under full sail she will cruise between 6 & 7 knots in a F4 breeze (8.8knots has been recorded in the Solent with the help of a knot of tide) and her heavy keel provides tremendous stiffness in a blow. Some years ago, Loreley was sailed (single-handed) through a F10 off the Norwegian coast and exonerated herself with ‘flying colours’!
With the unique ability to lower her rig (possible single handed) she can venture where other craft cannot and with such spacious accommodation, she is equally at home as a weekend sailor, a long range cruiser or as a live aboard.
