This is a
Beneteau First 38 built 1985.
These boats
have a thoroughbred pedigree. They are fast, but very stable giving owners a
very comfortable ride at sail, anchor or in a marina.
These boats
have a fantastic reputation and get great reviews in the yachting press. The
most recent was done by Yachting Monthly in Feb 2011 It scored the highest of
any previous boat reviewed in its 100 point test. You can still get copies of this test or I can forward it to you.
Its summary
was as follows.
“
From the moment you lay
eyes upon her racy shape, powerful hull and lofty rig you know you are looking
at a thorough bred. This boat will take you anywhere safely and at speed.”
There are
also accounts of these boats being used as blue water cruisers by families.
Most notably the Alexander family who documented their love of the boat and
their travels around the world in this boat.

We bought her in 2014 and have
spent a fortune upgrading the systems and fittings on the boat as you will see
from the inventory.
Our last jobs would have been to
renew the standing rigging. (At last asking we had a quote of £1309 from
Allspars). It is in perfect condition and was inspected last year but the age
is unknown so it would be sensible to renew. We did renew the backstay in 2017.
Also the Genoa needs upgrading.
Other than that it has all been done.
I have all the invoices for all
the equipment since 2014.
Unfortunately due to our financial
circumstances we now have to sell the boat we both love.
If you want a large comfortable yacht that dosn’t cost a fortune and is ready to go, where all the equipment has been upgraded, this is it.
The boat can be viewed in
Southampton. She is ready to sail. (She only needs antifouling, I have left
this so her hull can be inspected).
She is out of the water in a
cradle.

as I live two and a half hours away.
(The brass clock and barometer in the saloon are not with the boat as my mother bought these.) Also some of the pictures show a liferaft, dinghy and outboard and yacht cradle. These are being sold seperately.
