I have had this boat for about twelve years, I used to keep it on a swing mooring in Kirkcudbright but it has not been on the water for two years now.Currently it is up at my house near Gatehouse of Fleet and I will be going up next on 5/07/21 for 3-4 days. This is a project boat having not been sailed for a few years u the main issue is the trailer. I last towed it 20miles two years ago but without the boat on and having sailed the boat around from Kirkcudbright I towed the trailer with boat about 100yds from the sea to my house where it is stood. The bearings are poor, the tyres too and the rust is increasing. It would definitely need putting on a trailer or transporter to take away unless you were to sail it away and were then brave enough to tow the trailer unloaded, I would not be. Launching always consisted of towing the boat and trailer out at low tide and floating it off on the incoming tide then reversing the process to put it back on, this hasn’t done the trailer or bearings any good at all but the trailer could be repaired and axle/hubs replaced should a new owner wish. The boat sails well but is not fast, the best it is the keels which allow you to sleep pretty flat, there are a couple of foresails and a mainsail, most of the sheets and rigging should be replaced and the boat will need a good looking at and going over to get it ready for use.I bought it having read Shane Acton’s book ‘Shrimpy’ which is an addictive read but the furthest I ever went was under ten miles rather than a circumnavigation! In theory you can sleep four with front V-berth and two singles under the cockpit. There is a small porta-potti than fits perfectly under the cockpit floor, there is a sink and a cooker area. The ply floor boards need replacing but can be used as templates and the cockpit hatch has rotted, the electric and hand bilge pumps both work but the battery is not charging from the small solar panel, I suspect it is too old.I suspect this would be a fairly straightforward project and if I had the time I would have a go myself but I am hankering after a pilothouse and selling both the Caprice and an old Fletcher I have up there.Remember this is a project boat and cannot be towed away, it will need transporting.
