There is an deep bilge sump and a large water tank in the keel (not in use). In 2008, the exterior hull was shot blasted and spray coated with Jotamastic 87 before repainting. During this process any part of the hull where thinning was detected was cut out and re-plated. Jotamastic 87 is also used for interior hull protection, except in parts of the bilge where epoxy tar was appliedThe decks and coaming trim were completely removed in 2004-5, and new stainless steel scuppers were fitted throughout. The decks were re-laid with marine ply beneath teak, bedded with Sikaflex. The join to the cabin sides was also underpinned with stainless steel, to minimise contact between wood and the original steelwork. More recently the interior covering boards were removed and new steel frames added to strengthen the cabin support. The teak decks, cockpit seats, coaming, hatches and cabin sides were treated regularly with Semco teak sealer, which maintains the colour in the teak with minimal rubbing down. The interior teak was varnished with Epifanes above deck level, and French polished below. The boat originally had wheel steering, but this was replaced with a long tiller which gave much better control, both manual and autopilot.Accommodation layout and detailsBuchanan 35 sleeps up to 5 people in 1 cabin and the saloonForepeak with double berth and door from head, storage and opening hatchHead with Jabsco sea toilet and hanging lockers opposite, door to saloonComfortable saloon with a berths to port and stbd, lee cloths to berths, storage above and below, central drop leaf table which will seat 6 if requiredTo starboard, aft is the quarter berth (no cushions, currently used for storage)Galley to port with Taylors 30 paraffin 2 burner cooker and oven, spacious work surface, plenty of storage, SS sink with cold water manual pumpChart table to starboard with storage for charts, seat and electronics mounted above, 12v switch panelsExternally is a deep spacious cockpit that can seat up to 8, if requiredEngine, Electrical and TankageEngineBeta Marine BD722 3 cylinder diesel engine 200520 HpAquadrive (2005)3 blade fixed prop (2011)Engine hours unknownElectrical12V DC domestic systemDomestic battery 115 Ah (approx) 2015Engine battery 70 AhWaeco SinePower 350W inverter supplying 2 socketsNEW Rutland 914i Wincharger 2015NEW Rutland HRDi 12/24V RegulatorNEW Marlec Spectra Solar Panel with built in diodeTankageFuel – 60L – PlasticWater – 57L – PlasticNote there is a large (150L approx) water tank over the keel – disconnectedHolding – 42L – not connectedSpars, Sails and CanvasSparsSingle spreader wooden mastRoller reefing boom, also in woodSpinnaker poleWindex / VHF antennaSailsMainsailSpare mainsail2 * JibsStorm jibCoversSprayhood (2014)Mainsail cover (2013)Rig and Sails NotesThe mainsail was made by a Finnish sailmaker while the vessel was in Tallinn in 2005, the remaining sails (jib, Genoa) were made by Crusader Sails in 2010, apart from a spare , larger jib (North Sea Sails 2008) and a storm jib (older but strong and little used). The roller boom makes reefing very straightforward and infinitely variable, and the main sets very well at all points of reefing. A new mainsail cover was fitted in 2013.The forestay, two backstays and upper shrouds were replaced in 2005, using 6mm 1×19 stainless steel. The four lower shrouds are plastic coated stainless steel. Running rigging is of rope, all in good working condition. There are two bronze winches on the mast for halyards, and two bronze cockpit winches for sheets. The mast was stripped back to bare wood in 2014, some of the seams routed and new strips of wood epoxied in. The whole mast is SP epoxy coated and finished with Epifanes two-pack polyurethane varnish. I have since bought a smaller yacht. Ideally she needs to go at towards the end of October. She is on a swimming mooring in Falmouth. I am going to put a reserve of £2500 so you could pick up a real bargin. Would make a great live aboard. Any questions please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
