Canadian 16 Ft Prospector Western Red Cedar Strip Plank Canoe

This is a Canadian design 16 ft prospector canoe built from western red cedar, and strip planked, planked hull sheathed in fiberglass cloth and epoxy filled inside and out, hull over coated with 12 coats of Schooner varnish.          Bow and stern stems have protective brass strips, all screws and other fixings are of marine grade, or brass. There are two fore and aft water tight compartments with circular screw fix face plates.         gunnels and stems are of Ash.  The prospector has good maneuverability through white water,with capacity to carry substantial loads and is ideal for long river camping trips.           A hull weight of approx 60 lbs means she can transported on a car roof rack of the right size.    Optimum capacity between 350/540 lbs ideal for two paddlers plus camping kit, can be solo paddled if so wished , there are two hand made paddles suitable for persons of 5/6ft         Two bow and stern painters and two tie down sheets      I built this lovely canoe because I always wanted to build a thing of beauty and as this is my last boat build  I wanted it to be something special, all my other boat builds are scattered through out the Uk, they are very special to me but are not of the beauty of this one.
