Wooden clinker-built Bermudan sloop. Construction is Iroko
on Oak. She has bilge fins. There is a centreboard space, but no centre board
fitted. She is number 38 of the A.F. Platt-designed and built craft from
Benfleet in Essex.
She passed her Boat Safety Certificate in October, valid for
four years. She is fitted with a Yanmar 2GM20
20bhp shaft driven with 3-bladed prop. There is tiller steering with a
removeable automatic pilot. She is currently in use as a river cruiser on the
Thames, moored at Sunbury-on-Thames.
The mast, boom with roller reefing,
furling gear for the headsail and all standing rigging are all available. She
has a three-burner hob. There is a five-year old sea-toilet fitted but is not
in service due to the cruising area. There is a headsail and a mainsail, both
overhauled in the last four years. There is a V-berth up forward with an
infill to convert to a double. Coming aft there is a locker to starboard and
the loo compartment to port.
Further aft is the saloon with two setees on the
port side facing each other across a mahogany table. This can convert into a
double berth. The galley is to starboard, with good storage space.
The cockpit
is two steps up. This is about six feet long. There is a spray hood and complete cockpit cover, four years old. The gas locker and 22-litre fuel
tank are under the starboard cockpit seats and the two batteries are under the
port seats. The rest of the space is used for storage.
There is also a hand-operated bilge pump. The pump is used
about every month or so with about ten strokes to clear the bilge.
There is a speedometer and echo-sounder.
Down in the saloon, in addition to the electric lights, there are two brass oil lamps in gimbels with brass heat-diffusers above. These add to the ‘classic’ feel of the craft.
The vessel can be inspected at Lower Sunbury by arrangement. The buyer can take delivery of the craft, complete with mast, boom, rigging and sails.
The vessel is advertised elsewhere and may be removed from Ebay at any time.
