Vintage mahogany sailing dinghyBunty was owned and meticulously restored by Ronald Duncan over many years. He thought she had been built in North Wales in the 1930’s. We bought her in 1997 after he became too ill to return to sailing and we kept her in our garage until the present. We are not sailors so she has not felt water for a very long time. It’s a credit to her unknown original builder that only one little split exists in her forefoot and nothing else to repair. See photo. The only other work needed is to re-lacquer the brasswork and rake out and recaulk the hardened deck seams. She has a lovely old Ratsey sail which was recently attacked by a rodent. Sad, but it could be patched. There is a new canvas laced-on cover, never yet used. The trailer is also included. Also Mr Duncan’s folder of extensive notes and drawings.Dimensions. 12’4″long x 5’1″ beam. Mast 10’6″ stepped. Lifting rudder. Centre plate. Number plate on transom 502.We hope to find a buyer who appreciates the quality and condition of this antique ‘Swallows and Amazons’ dinghy and will treat her to some beautiful and gentle long-awaited sailing.
