THIS BOAT IS BEING LISTED AGAIN BECAUSE THE WINNING BIDDER NEVER TURNED UP OR COMPLETED THE SALE .. ANOTHER DREAMER …. SO here another opportunity to acquire this real classic Sea King 24ft long 8ft 3 inch beamed clinker built sail boat with a ‘drop keel set up with a separate head. She was built in the very early sixties in the shed she now sits in but was laid up outside in a local yard for many years. The boat has a Stuart Turner Model P55 8HP petrol engine fitted (serial number 21B108) but the engine will need a rebuild, the main engine, gearbox, shaft, propellor etc is in place but some ancillary bits are missing (all available from Stuart Turner Bits & Pieces Ltd in Bristol) This boat is like a time machine with all her original fittings including a brass heater, lamps, instruments etc: (she even has the china mugs sitting in their racks) I do not want to underplay the scale of this renovation task as this boat is in a relatively sad state but she has little or no rot, apart from one damaged area on her port side where the deck meets the Hull (the damaged area is about 24 inches long and 7 inches deep, not a big challenge for a decent chippy!) She is far from a lost cause and in my view far to precious to break up. Accordingly she is being offered at a start price of £1 on a no reserve basis and the highest bidder buys her at whatever the highest bid price. The buyer must arrange transport from Leigh on Sea, Essex SS9 but we are able to launch her for purposes of loading ( alternatively she can be craned directly from our slipway on a road transport method ) The approximate cost to load directly onto a road trailer or similar is around £175 (using the shipyard next door to us heavy lift long reach crane) There is also a back story here as an retired employee of Sea King Boat Builders (from apprenticeship to retirement) still lives locally and actually worked on the build of this very boat. He is an immense source of information and would be available for future guidance should it be required and has expressed an interest in following her progress. NOTE: As said this boat has been laid up out of the water for many years so she leaks and may need some planks refastened plus some possible recaulking where the Garboard meets the Keel.
