Despina was built By the Friendship Boat Company In Jersey, Channel Islands in 1980. The hull is strip planked “mahogany” with marine ply decks with hardwood trim. The mast and spars are wooden and the interior is beautifully fitted out with varnished seats and hardwood gratings. All fittings are bronze and there is Wickham Martin furling on the foresail.The sails are traditionally finished by North Sea Sails and made from Oceanus sail cloth. There is a spare mainsail.Wooden main sheet blocks are by Davey and all ropes are in synthetic hemp.All fittings are bronze and there are a set of oars and a Mercury 3.5 two stroke outboard motor.The braked trailer is by DeGraff and the brakes were overhauled in 2019After I bought her in 2002 she was extensively restored by Mark Edwards of Richmond Boathouse.This included fitting new decks, combings and a new transom, reinforced for an outboard.She has been well maintained using quality paints and varnishes.
