Twisters are magic boats to sail. Light on the helm, close winded and relatively fast and will, with the helm lashed, ably sail themselves to windward. The long keel means that they maintain their track without continuous effort on the helm. If you are seeking a real ‘Classic’ that is guaranteed to turn heads, sails like a witch, is easily handled and will look after you in a blow.
Marnier is a composite Twister, so the hull and decks are GRP and the cabin sides and coach roof are wooden, with the cabin sides in mahogany.
New slab reefing main, furling headsail and spinnaker last spring from Crusader sails. We replaced the running rigging at the same time and also had a stack pack made by crusader which we installed along with lazy jacks to make it easy for ourselves in rougher weather. Spars are all original and includes a spinnaker pole.
Starting forward – the v-berth has been converted into a double with a custom mattress from the Marine Bedding Company, it could be converted back to a traditional v-berth with some amends to the mattress. There is also a layer of dry mesh anti moisture mesh to help with the air circulation. The berth has been insulated to reduce condensation and improve the temperature both when it’s hot and cold, it has also been planked out and painted white to keep it bright. There is a forehatch and two new LED lights on the bulkhead and stowage under the bunk.
Through jack and jill doors there is a separate heads with a new Lavac heads and pipework and also new LED light. To port there are two good size hanging lockers that drain into the bilge. We then come to the saloon, where there’s ample stowage behind and under the seats that can double up as two single berths. New upholstery this spring and new LED lights that run the length of the saloon and into the galley and chart table. There is also an old oil lamp, that gives a lovely warm glow and can keep the chill away. There is a table that stows to the starboard bulkhead when not in use. The water tank is original and built into the bilge, Marnier was rewired this spring when the exterior and interior lights were upgraded with LED ones.
The galley is to starboard with plenty of stowage, a sink, a new brass manual tap and a Orgio 3000 meth stove. To port is a large chart table and new Cobra VHF radio, new switch panel and double USB charger port.

We replaced all the navigation lights apart from the stern light to LED this spring, with new cables to the switch panel. Life ring and rail attachment in the cockpit. Two fire extinguishers below, one by the engine and one by the heads.
