White Cloud is built on the lines of a Falmouth Quay Punt; shortish keel-stepped mast (25′ above deck), long keel, no tops’l, tiller steered with a small ‘leg-of-mutton’ mizzen. Pitch Pine planks on Elm frames.She was built by Gann & Palmer in Teignmouth in 1912, and there is a full history of owners etc.She was extensively restored by the current owner over a period of six years and has been sailing for six years since.A recent survey found; “Her rebuild included attention to all areas both structurally and cosmetically. The standard of maintenance since her rebuild is exceptional and she remains outstanding example of her type.”She is 25′ along the waterline and deck, has an 8′ beam and draws 4’1”.With bowsprit run out and with the aft bumkin she is approx. 35′. The marina measurement is 29′.Her three tan sails have been replaced over the past 5 years by Mark Butler at James Lawrence Sailmakers and her jib re-cut and serviced.The white jib is on a Wykeham-Martin furling gear and the mainsail has roller reefing around the boom.There are three bunks; two in the main cabin and one in the fore cabin. The heads are also in the fore cabin.A combination sink & twin gas burner stove is in the main cabin opposite the navigation table. Chart-plotter, DSC radio etc., east coast charts, pilot books etc. are included.There is a cast iron, solid fuel, stove in the main cabin for heating.Cabin lighting is by oil lamp with some LED lighting in period bulkhead units. Navigation lighting is mainly LED.The engine is a Beta Marine 20hp, 3 cylinder unit, with the prop through a cutlass bearing on the centreline – she goes backwards very well!A full winter cover, for when ashore, in also includedAt present White Cloud has a berth in the excellent Bradwell Marina near the mouth of the Blackwater river in Essex. Although the marina is technically full and with a waiting list, this berth is available for any new owner if desired.
