This is a high volume cruiser design from David Feltham. For it’s length (28ft – 8.5m)gives a good accommodation and feeling of internal space. The design still holds it’s own against modern examples. She is factory finished in teak. This vessel has had much refurbishment, maintenance, spending and refitting done in the last twelve months. Gelshield epoxy April, headsail has a new UV strip and luff tape, hood has new windows and wear strips, new 6mm main shrouds, Sta Lok fittings, engine service May, internal varnish in some areas, external – International woodskin on tiller main hatch surround and rubbing strakes, new hull anode. She has just returned from a Hebridean cruise and is ready to go again with full tank of fuel and some spare. A video showing more photos can be seen on YouTube, just type in ‘Cobra 850 La Chica slideshow’. Videos of my cruise to the Hebrides can also be found on YouTube entitled ‘Sailing nowhere near Havana’ Parts 1 and 2.
She comes with all cruising gear including a well used Seago 260 inflatable which is OK but always keep the pump handy, several patches, one of which needs re-doing. Raymarine 2000+ autopilot, DSC VHF, Stereo radio, GPS and repeater, depth sounder. Some engine spares, filters, impeller belt, etc There is an electric anchor windlass with a good length of chain and CQR type plough anchor. There is also a Danforth second anchor with nylon warp. There is an Eberspacher diesel heater, never been tried apart from a brief switch on, the blower worked, it may or may not need attention. The engine has done around 720hrs, no problems here, Beta 20HP, 3 cylinder, very economical. Beam is 9ft 6in, draft 4ft
In summary, a capable cruiser which in present ownership has had a lot of attention, time and money spent. After an enjoyable cruise, it is time to pass this yacht on to a new Captain, the purpose of present ownership completed. She is presently in North Wales and is ready to sail to your home port. Please only ‘Buy it Now’ if you are happy with the condition. She is being advertised at a selling price not an over inflated price to be knocked down. Thousands spent, please bear this in mind. Please think where you are going to moor the boat, talk to your partner and check your bank account before you get in touch as all the timewasting wears me out! Help will be given to a genuine buyer in a local delivery if required. If you are from the other end of the country please consider if you are prepared to sail her home. She is ready, so the purchaser could treat the journey as their annual holiday. Delivery may be possible but dependent on distance and other factors. I think the boat would be ideal in this area with it’s twin keels could be kept in cheaper drying moorings. Thanks
