8.76m Cobra (1982) fin keel currently out of the water in an MDL marina in Southampton water. I’ve sailed this fantastic pocket cruiser mostly around Southampton Water and the Solent. I’ve had some great adventures on board, and it’s kept me and passengers safe and comfortable. It has lots of stowage and a large cockpit locker. It’s a good sea keeping boat which is very solidly built.Sadly although I lifted it out the water with plans to put it back in during 2018 and get sailing again, life events have taken over (wedding/ moving house/ family etc) and I’ve not been able to give it the care it needs. This could be an ideal for a first yacht (it was for me), and won’t take much to get it back in the water and sailing again. The forepeak has a single mains power socket, ocean air blind and an opening hudini hatch, with two reading lights, stowage under the twin V shaped bunk and shelving running down either side. The main saloon has a U shaped seat with stowage underneath, a door closing off the forepeak and heads, twin batteries under the seating and a shorepower battery charger. There is a full size chart table in the saloon with chartplotter above it, VHF and map reading light. There are 4 other lights in the saloon. The sea berth is off the saloon and long enough for a 6’4″ adult. The U shape seating in the saloon converts to a double berth with an infill. The same infill is used as the saloon table which seats 5. There are curtains to the saloon windows. The galley has a twin burner cooker with oven and a double sink with electrically heated water tap. There is stowage under the galley for plates, pans etc. there is also stowage in the saloon in the form of 6 cupbards at eye level. The vessel has a furling genoa (120%) and a mainsail with lazy jacks and sail coverThe good points:5 berth (inc 1 sea berth)Sea water headsTwin V berth forward good enough for 6’2″ peopleSeating in saloon converts to double berthTable in saloon seats 52015 full survey availableNew life raft 2016 (4 man coastal £599)All sails laundered 2016 inc new UV stripNew depth gauge 2015New fenders 2016New wind speed / direction 2015New chart plotter 2015Antifouled 2016New running rigging 2016New auto bilge pump 2016New electric hot tap 201612v and mains fridge2 burner / oven cookerTwin sinksChart tableIncluded is a Marina 4hp out board and Avon dinghy with oars10 HP Bukh in board serviced 2015 and new water pump fittedBoth primary twin speed winches serviced 2015Two winches at mastSmoke alarm fittedAll fire extinguishers new 2014Includes cruising shute and spinnaker poleMaintenance has included a brand new rudder which is guaranteed and a new stern gland also guaranteedTV/DVDWill need attention at some point:She’s been out of the water since February 2018 so decks and canopy need cleaning (a weak patio magic solution worked a treat when I bought it and came up lovely).Parts of the rubbing strake could do with sanding back and treatment with teak oil/filler or better solution. The hull is brown GRP (popular in the 80’s) so looks a bit dull – needs a polish. The gas lines on the cooker need changing as per survey (£20 approx) there are two out of date lines no more than a meter in length. The rigging was replaced 8 years ago and will need changing in 2 years time.I accidentally broke handle for the manual bilge pump last year and it needs replacing (See photo – £20 DIY replacement).Below deck, the edge of the panelling has curled away in parts and would need some attention (See photo).Work that needs doing should just be minor DIY. With anti-fouling, bilge pump replacement and a battery charge, she’ll be good to go as she is. She cleans up well as you can see from the pics.I’ve attached the review given to the Cobra 750, the 850’s little sister in PBO magazine in 2004.Currently this boat is stored at MDL Marina as part of Freedom Berthing contract which runs to 31st March 2020. New owner would need to take the contract over on purchase or move the boat whatever works for them. This is priced to sell. Do not bid for this if you do not want to own a boat.10% deposit is required within 24 hours of winning auction please and full payment within 7 days.
