Colvic Sailer 26, Sailing Yacht, Windermere.
We are reluctantly selling our sailing yacht, based on a mooring at Fell Foot on the beautiful lake Windermere.
Unfortunately I don’t have all the photos, details or inventory right now. I’m planning on heading up there sometime in the next week, and will update the Ad with everything afterwards.
So to the description I can give now. Its a good solid boat, very well built. I am guessing the boat was built sometime in the 80’s. It did not come with a lot of documentation when we got it. its not perfect, and there will be jobs that need doing, but its not a perfect price.
She sleeps 4 comfortably. 2 in a V in a separate cabin in the forepeak, and 2 in the main saloon. There is a toilet equipped with a new (1 year old) portapotti. Due to lake restrictions the sea toilet has been removed and the valves sealed. There is a small sink in there.
The boat has a newish engine, about 200 hours on it. Fully working, it had new oil and coolant last year. Its a Lombardini diesel driving through a shaft to the prop. Very nice stainless fuel tank.
We replaced the headlining in the boat, and the cushions and curtains were replaced along with the cabin flooring at the start of last year. The fabric for the cushions is a very expensive wipe downable beige suede type fabric, and is in excellent condition. The boat is very habitable and ready to use. I have another 2m of the headlining material which will go with the boat.
There are 2 batteries onboard, along with a fixed battery charger. There is also some 240v wiring and a shore connection. I’ve never used it so cannot comment on it.
All the running rigging was changed out at the beginning of last year. She has a roller reefed Genoa on the bow, and a slab reefed main. Both are in OK condition, and quite useable. Some lines are run back to the cockpit. There were originally 2 winches mounted on the base of the mast, but these have gone. I have 2 to replace them which will come with the boat. The deck has patches of the Tek-Dek anti slip material which is excellent. At present they are a faded beige colour, There is a can of the rejuvenating/recolouring stuff which will apparently bring them back to a nice grey colour – it will come with the boat.
There is a large plough type anchor, with an unkown amount of chain.
The boat came with a sprayhood, which was a bit rough. I’ve had the windows replaced, and it looks ok. It along with the frame will both come with the boat.
The cooker is a 2 burner plastimo with a grill, in good condition. The gas pipe and regulator in the locker were changed last year and there are 2 bottles on the boat, and I have another full one here which will go onboard.
The boat has an old type echosounder, which is in working condition.
There are quite a few small jobs to complete. The biggest is probably the rubbing strake. Port side looks OK, and could probably get away with a sand down and varnish. On the Stbd side then it needs replacement at the stern quarter, and a length was replaced near the bow sometime previously which works but doesn’t look as good as I like. My plan was to take it all off and replace with a plastic version. About £200 from ebay last time I looked.
The boat hasn’t been out of the water since I’ve had it 2 years. Its on a fresh water lake, and looks pretty clean. No problems that I know of, if I was keeping her, I’d be thinking of having her out of the water.
The boat is in its original gelcoat, its in reasonable condition for its age, but would benefit from a good polish up.
The mooring the boat is on was replaced by the jetties company last year, so the ground tackle is quite new. The lifting line is new last month, and I have another new one to go with the boat. The mooring will need to be arranged with the Lake Wardens, but I’d be very surprised if it can’t stay on its current mooring. If they wont commit, then you are welcome to pay me out for the remainder of the year. Its just been renewed end of March. Cost works out about £80 per month. Its a lovely peaceful mooring just off the national trust park. The lakeside hotel is opposite, and the Swan at Newby Bridge is just down the river. You’ll need a dinghy to get there as the river is too shallow for the boat.
For the close to asking price, I will include a 2.6m inflatable dinghy. Its a rigid transom inflateable.
Sorry I don’t have all the details yet, now the decision has been made to sell I thought I’d get the ball rolling before heading up there sometime in the next week.
Before then, if you have any questions, you can text me on 07525412948
We are about an hour away from the boat, so can be available for a viewing by prior arrangement.
So to sum up its a good size yacht, perfect for Windermere or even at sea if you feel like it. Easy to single hand, sleeps 4 in comfort. Quite useable for the upcoming season.
Thanks for looking.
