1968 Jeremy Rogers Contessa
Designed in collaboration between David Sadler and Jeremy Rogers
Described as the ultimate pocket cruiser these small yachts
have taken on many big adventures including circumnavigation and are highly
As a hugely successful boat the Contessa 26 has an active class association and national
championship (which even has a white sails class) and is widely regarded as a
premium brand British icon that has always attracted peoples attention both
afloat and when the boat is ashore.
More Racers also hold the Contessa 26 in high regard as they
track and handicap incredibly well and have an enviable record in both distance
events and club racing the Contessa 26
won both the gold and the silver roman bowl in the 2018 round the island race
and serious challengers should consider the Contessa 26 as a race build for this and other prestigious events
including Cowes classics that they now qualify for.
Resprayed in 2016 and faired below the water line to a
smooth finish freshly antifouled with racing antifouling paint(2019) she is
ready to go back into the water for the 2019 season and beyond.
The bow section has had the notorious wooden sponge removed
and replaced with layers of iroko and epoxy giving it a rock solid nose, this is now complemented by an uprated considerably
larger bow roller which allows for very easy anchorage/ mooring and is now even
strong enough to fly an asymmetric spinnaker from should you so wish an
Rudder heel replaced 2016 and rudder fittings removed and

rudder even though it is one of the earlier boats produced

I own a swinging mooring in Langstone harbour that a new
owner can have 12 months use of from purchase if they wish (just pay the
harbour fees) this would be at your own risk of course and the new owner would
need to arrange insurance.
The boat is currently ashore at my sailing club in Portsmouth
Hampshire and is available for inspection/survey by appointment.
Launching of the vessel is already paid for and included in
any purchase the new owner would need to assist and drive the boat away. This could also possibly be lifted onto your
transport at the club free of charge depending on arrangements.
This mooring does almost dry on a large spring tide however
this has never been a problem as she just settles into the very soft mud and
has been on this mooring for several years without a problem.
viewing is by appointment only but i will state that i would take a part or full exchange on a car motorbike motorhome etc i have already bought a larger Contessa so no boats please
this boat has an interesting history and i am happy to discuss with interested parties as to its its history
