Advertised on November 6, 2020

Now selling a complete project boat. Please read on for full and honest details.NOW NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM SITE – AREA BEING REDEVELOPED – SO NOW BEING SOLD BY AUCTION, WITH LOW STARTING PRICE!The yacht is a DEHLER OPTIMA 83 – manufactured in 1969.Name:  “CHEETAH”Length Overall:    8.3m    (27′)Length Waterline:    6.7m    (22′)Beam:    2.48m    (8′)Draft:    1.25m    (4′)Displacement:    2400kgBallast:    775kgThis is my daughters boat which, unfortunately, was water damaged internally when on the hard standing where she kept it in Greifswald, Germany (she sailed the Baltic area). Her job takes her all over the world and, when the boat was damaged, she was here – there – and everywhere, so could not get to the boat for almost 18 months. Unfortunately, during this time (and with the Baltic winters), the tarpaulin covering the boat was severely damaged and the boat was partially filled with water internally. Luckily, the speed/depth transducer had been removed, so the water never filled the boat or reached the engine sump.At that time I had a large storage yard, so we had the boat transported over from Germany so that I could renovate the boat for her in the UK. Unfortunately, business and family commitments meant that I didn’t get around to doing this renovation, but the boat was covered with a framework to prevent further water ingress. The boat was supported on a proper, 6-leg yacht cradle from when it arrived from Germany.Having now retired, last year I decided to get it sorted and renovated for my daughter, so I removed the framework ready to start. I had the boat surveyed on the 16th December 2019 by NW Surveying Services of Y Felinheli (Dinorwic) in Wales, and the survey was quite good – although there were things that needed attention, the boat was deemed to be worthy of restoring (copy of survey available to serious buyers). I had intended, and was making arrangements, to have the boat transported to Dickies in North Wales and then TLC Boat Services were going to undertake some of the work and I would do some of the lesser cosmetic jobs. Please note: The boat was stripped out, ready for refurbishment. There are a few items still available, such as table, cupboard frames, etc. and some other “bits and bats”, but not a lot.The mast and boom are available (the boom has been dry stored and the ropes are in excellent condition). There are no sails for the boat.Cheetah has imitation teak decking, which really does look good. Below deck, she has instrument panel with switches and gauges, and a CD player. There are some cushions available for the interior.Externally, in the cockpit, she has a compass and a NASA Target combined Speed and Depth gauge. There is a hole where a broken gauge was removed. So, before I could get the boat down to North Wales, the pandemic hit us all, and lockdown happened. I was unable to get over to my old yard to do anything with the boat until about a month ago, when I found the time to go over and take a look at her – and I was absolutely gutted by what I saw!The boat had again filled with water but, for whatever reason, the fin keel had slipped to starboard and had come off the large wood block that it was supported on and so the boat tipped over to port, resulting in the middle cradle leg on the portside puncturing the hull just under the hull/superstructure joint. On the starboard side, the three cradle legs had pushed the hull inwards and caused gelcoat cracking, but do not appear to have punctured the hull.I visited the boat in September, and the damage was just as it had been previously, it had not got any worse.I’m now just too old to take this on, and to be honest, my daughter has just gone ahead and purchased another boat in Germany. Based on the survey from last December, and the fact that the hull only appears punctured in one place, I suspect that she can be properly repaired by someone who has the time and knowledge to do this (at 71 years of age, I don’t have either!)We don’t want to see Cheetah be added to the boat graveyard, so we do hope someone will buy her and restore her.So what you are bidding for is:-* Dehler Optima 83 fin-keel yacht requiring extensive remedial work (with only mast and boom)THE CRADLE IS AVAILABLE SEPARATELY, IF REQUIRED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION SALE!It has all to be cleared off my old yard as soon as possible, the new owner wants them moved to make use of the area they occupy.I am happy to answer any questions or arrange viewing, please contact me via eBay Messenger or telephone me on 07976-533775.There is a transport company just 200 metres from the yard, and they can transport the boat if required.
