The ‘Dehlya 25’ was the product of a collaboration between Dehler Yachts and the German Yachting Association. It was designed by the well respected van de Stadt design office, built by Dehler in Germany and originally marketed in the UK by Alan Bourden Yachts Ltd. The yacht has a lifting keel giving a draft that can be varied between 0.45m and 1.40m, and is capable of taking the ground. The rudder is also removable. The yacht utilises water ballast tanks to reduce weight when out of the water, to facilitate easy towing on the four wheeled aluminium trailer. The yacht weighs 1100Kg (the keel is 300Kg) and the water ballast tanks add an extra 375Kg when the yacht is in the water. The rig is 3/4 fractional and has mainsail, headsail, spinnaker and a storm jib. The mast is deck-stepped and can be raised using the spinnaker pole to make an ‘A’ frame. The yacht comes with a Tohatsu 6hp outboard that can be operated via remote controls in the cockpit (not included). Other equipment on the yacht comprises two anchors, fenders, all sheets and mooring lines, a two ring paraffin stove. There are two 12V batteries. There is a cockpit bulkhead mounted compass (although the glass is crazed) and an echo sounder.Although the hull, topsides and coachroof are all in sound condition, this yacht is in need of some TLC – a project for the winter! It is currently out of the water on its trailer. The teak seats on the cockpit lockers have separated and need replacing. The sprayhood was unfortunately so perished that we had to dispose of it. There is damage to the transom (not structural) that will need patching. The engine has not been run for some time and will need servicing. the non-slip material on the deck will also need replacing. The trailer is in good condition and is aluminium so no rust. The floating slipway trolley is not serviceable and I have always has the yacht craned in and out of the water.
