Folkboat FB390 ‘Coralie’
Built 1954 in Germany. From the bottom upwards:
The Trailer was made by the previous owner who was a professional welder. It was built on two new 1500kg Indespension axles and a new hitch with used acrow props for adjustable stays. Four good high pressure tyres. Has never been in the sea. Needs a bit of paint. You will need a light board. It’s a really good trailer. Iron Keel. Keel bolts are clearly not the original 1950s bolts. The Hull is carvel strip planked mahogany on steamed oak ribs. No decay that I can find, but old and yes, she leaks like wooden boats do. One day she will maybe need epoxy sheathing. The Decks are plywood and were replaced by the previous owner. They seem sound. The loose panels of the cockpit sole need attention as does the stern locker top, the cockpit locker seats, the sliding hatch cover and part of the coach roof. In my estimation this is fairly easy glue and screws carpentry. Fore hatch has been replaced with a new Lewmar hatch. Pulpit, pushpit, stanchions, guard rails, grab handles, cleats, blocks, original tufnol sheet winches, halyard winches, bulkhead compass.Below there are four berths. Much of the original interior including the oilskin locker, folding saloon table and the original slide-out porcelain sea toilet. A steel compression post has been added under the mast step. A galley sink, but no water tank and no gimballed cooker. Instruments including GPS, echo sounder, log.Inboard Engine is A 10hp single cylinder Volvo Penta diesel is installed under the cockpit with gearbox, fixed fuel tank, electric starter and excellent access for maintenance. The engine turns with a crank handle but hasn’t been fired up for some years. Sea water cooled with the sea water filter, hoses, exhaust system all in place. There is a cockpit engine throttle/gear lever but the cables are seized. Prop shaft and 2 blade prop in place. Remote stern gland greasing arrangement. Bulkhead engine control panel with key to start. Two Batteries are charged by the engine alternator with a rotary 1+2 switch. Running the engine starter motor, instruments, fag lighter socket, cabin lights, masthead led tricolour, bilge pump, Navico tiller pilot.Wooden deck stepped mast and boom plus spinaker pole. Original Mainsail mast track and round-the boom roller reefing. Jib has roller furling gear. Stainless spreaders and all the wire and rope standing and running rigging is there to be reused or copied and replaced. Sails in poor condition.Anchors CQR bower and Danforth kedge, chain, lots of warp.Sale includes the tiller pilot, bilge pump, cockpit cover, boarding/bathing ladder, fenders, boathook, anodes, assorted harnesses, winch handles, spares, engine manual and bits and pieces including an inflatable dinghy that may be servicableMessage me to view any time day, evening, weekday or weekend, for queries or for further photos. All the above is ‘best of my knowledge’ info but you need to check and inspect for your self.I am not certain of the total weight of trailer and load but you will want a vehicle rated to tow at least 2.8 tons. Height off the ground is 10′, 3.05m without the mast lying on top if you want to put her in a shed.
