Calanda is a Folksong 25, a Folkboat based design with a
long keel displacing about 3 tons. She is easy to sail with good
directional stability and feels quite fast for her length. I have spent
my spare time over the last 3 months improving the paint work and
generally tidying her up. I am now 73 years old and under a certain
amount of understandable pressure from SWMBO to reign my sailing
activities in, hence this sale. The interior grp areas are painted with
Polyurethane twin pack and Danboline as appropriate. The internal
woodwork is either Varnish or Dulux exterior grade paint which should be
hardwearing being relatively sheltered. As a gentle reminder boats are best
surveyed by some one who has experience in this area so you know what
you getting into, with the best will in the world there is always
maintenance work to be done. For calanda the VHF aerial needs attention probably in the join above the deck, the reefing lines will need sorting, it hasn’t been sailed in 2 years. The
headroom in the forecabin is 4′, at a smidge under 6′ tall I can sit on
the porta loo and my head just touches the cabin roof. In
the main cabin the headroom is 4′ 10″, it’s comfortable enough sitting on
the bunk but you can’t put your trousers on standing up.Calanda has potentially
4 Berths, one twin in the forecabin, one on the Starboard side main
cabin and one under the stern deck. One of the fore cabin berths does
not have a cushion/mattress. Please note Calanda is a compact craft
and I would think more than 2 adults on her simultaneously would be a
trifle cramped.The
main and fore cabins are dry, I have never found a leak however GRP
hulls do sufffer from condensation and to keep her clean it is a good
idea to give the cabin surfaces a good wipe down occaisionally and lift
the wooden floor to clean there. The lazarette and rear of the keel do
collect water, again condensation I believe, both are fitted with
pumping facilitiesCalanda is on a mid river mooring on the
River Hamble. The
mooring never dries out, the boat remains afloat all year round and at
all states of the tide. I cannot offer to transfer the mooring with the
boat, that is the prerogative of the River Hamble Harbour Master.
Applying for a mooring is a straight forward job and if you contact the
Harbour Authority they will provide up to date details, it is best to do
that asap to get in the queue, you will not be assigned a mooring until
you have applied. The cost of a mid river mooring varies but budget
around £7-800 p.a. and you will not be far out. It is a condition of
the mooring agreement/river license that you have third party insurance
on the boat, budget another £140 approx. for this, worth looking around.Details follow;
