I am selling my beautiful Galway Hooker ‘Coila’. I have kept Coila in the harbour at Portencross for the last few years and she has been the subject of countless photos and paintings in her time there. I have carried out a lot of work on her but as with all older boats, there is always more to do. Coila is a 6 metre open sail boat with a gaff main sail, 2 headsails and an inboard engine. She has a fibreglass hull which is a huge benefit for ease of maintenance and practical use but she still has the traditional eye catching lines of the original wooden Galway Hookers. Other than the hull, everything else is wooden including the spars, foredeck, interior fixings, rubbing straight and keel. She is currently in a boat yard and could do with a little bit of work before she goes back in the water but I sailed her there so she is not too far off being ready to use again. The engine is a single cylinder yanmar engine (video of it running attached). Coila can fit onto a trailer and be kept in a drying berth If necessary. I am reluctantly selling Coila as I just don’t have time to sail her anymore and want to see her in a good new home.
