Hamble River One Design 18 foot gaff rigged sloop built 1913 by Luke & Co at Swanwick on the River Hamble. One of probably about 6 ever built just before the first world war, this beautiful little boat is a true classic and an important piece of maritime history. She is built of Oregon pine on elm frames with a ply deck and cast iron keel. This is an unfinished project, she has been in a barn in Somerset for 20 years and had had considerable work done to make her sound, including a new mahogany transom, new keelson and several new planks. She now needs an enthusiast to finish the job and get her sea worthy. The seems will all need raking out and re-caulking, there are a few cracked ribs that will need attention and a few other items but nothing drastic, and obviously a repaint. Alternatively she could be epoxy coated.I had a complete new rig made for her so she has a new laminated mast and boom (the gaff is original) and a new suit of sails none of which have ever been used. the standing and running rigging is also new and she has a furling fore-stay. Some adjustments will need to be made to the rigging to get it right but its nearly there. This lovely boat needs to go to someone who appreciates what she is and is prepared to either commit time and expertise to the project or have her finished in a professional boatyard. when completed she will be a head turning classic and an absolute pleasure to own and sail. She is currently sitting on a wooden cradle (which will go with the boat) on my flat bed trailer. I could deliver her (if you cover my costs) if not too far or I can arrange to have her lifted unto your vehicle. For more email@example.com 134297
