Called Songbird, she is no23 and the last of the 23 boats in this class. The first 22 were built on Heir Island, County Cork by Gubby Williams. Songbird was built in Totnes, Devon as a joint effort with Bruce Thorogood. The scantlings are generous and the workmanship first class. She is a splendid little ship! The fittings are mostly bronze which adds to the traditional flavour. The design was inspired by traditional Cork lobster boats. The wooden centreboard is slightly ballasted so there is no downhaul. She sails and handles very well. The original cost of boat and gear was in excess of £23,000. I paid £15,000 for her two years ago, intending her to be my last boat. Alas I have developed some health problems and I have to hang up my oilskins. Hence I am putting her up for sale. I am hoping to recover about half my outlay.
