Hurley 20 Bilge Keel yacht – Built 1969 – EloiseA much improved and upgraded example of the well – respected Hurley 20. This one has had the following work completed.2016 – New stainless steel rudder tube made and fitted to overcome the rotting associated with the original galvanised tubes. New stainless cockpit drain cocks replacing the original crumbling brass (yes brass not bronze). Sails refurbished with new sacrificial strip and leech tension line to genoa, Main refurbished and reinforcement to attachment points. Assymetric spinnaker never used by me and has no lines. All lines are led to cockpit – easy to single hand. Has danforth and plough anchors with short chain length and long warp. Electrics as follows – 40w solar panel charging twin sealed batteries via solid state regulator. (batteries stay fully charged even in winter) nav lights all replaced with new LED lights, switched to make illegal light combination impossible. interior lights are LED. New standard Horizon dsc VHF with built in GPS, new NASA clipper duet depth and log with new transducers, red illuminated steering compass. cigar lighter socket for phone charging etc. CD radio stereo. Completely rewired with all connections soldered. Galley is a single camping stove with disposable gas canisters. No sink – use a bucket. No toilet – use another bucket! General condition is good for a nearly 50 years old boat, hull is in original gelcoat and topside are needing repaint completing (paint included) Rubbing strakes all replaced with new teak. Interior is basic but comfortable for this size of boat and has a v berth in the forepeak and two singles Engine is a 2007 4hp Mariner 4 stroke with a 12litre tank and fuel supply pipe giving around 15 hrs motoring without refuelling. Engine serviced this year before season started. All warps fenders and inventory equipment required to go to sea included. You’ll just need oilies and a lifejacket.Eloise sails like a big boat and thrives on a good blow, I have taken her through f6 weather in the Wash with no dramas at all. I had the privelege to take her to the 2016 Hurley reunion event in Plymouth and on enquiring with Mrs. Hurley, the widow of George Hurley the Builder why so many of the boats had survived she said ‘One word dear – Quality’For a quick sale the asking price is about the cost of the motor and new electricals, I have a new boat on the way and would like this one gone before I move the new one to the mooring.
