Hurley Silhouette MK2, Sail no 1449. Built in about 1965. 17’6″ in length, grp construction, triple keel. This is a project boat.I bought it about four years ago in a sorry state, as a first project. I got it about three-quarters of the way there, and then was offered a much better MK3, which I sailed straightaway. I have now upgraded that to something much bigger, meanwhile this one has been sitting in my barn, collecting dust.It is in mostly original condition including the trailer, (not roadworthy, but ok for storage/launching) and sails (baggy). The hull has been sanded back and six coats of Gelshield applied. Topsides were painted in Hempel gloss. Mast and boom are good. Most rope is there. Apart from an excellent forestay, the rigging is old. Pulpit and pushpit fitted but probably not original. Wing keels are not too bad for corrosion, centre keel is cast cement, keel bolts unchecked and glassed over. Interior is plain, it has nearly all the original ply panels and some cushions. No electrics. There is no outboard with it, but it would only need a small (2-5hp) motor anyway. The best thing to do is have a look, but I can send any specific photos on request.I would also recommend the website and FB pages of the Silhouette Owners Association, which have a wealth of knowledge.I am in East Sussex. It would need to go on a flat trailer for transport, it is about 550kg.
