I have owned Gem for a couple of years and would not be selling her if I had not already bought a larger boat. She is a beautiful looking craft with superb lines and I know I will miss her. Silhouettes draw very little water floating in less than two feet and the bilge keel versions can be beached as they will happily sit on their keels and await the next tide. She has two berths so nights out or weekends away are an option and there is a portable gas stove and sink so you can make a cuppa and a meal. You will not find many boats that are this much fun in this price range. Whilst I have owned her I had the wiring replaced professionally with tinned wire at great expense I also had a NASA 20 watt solar panel fitted which charges the 110 amp hour battery via a charge controller, all new. This means that whenever you arrive at the boat the battery is completely topped up and ready to power the navigation lights or the cigar charger for phones, tablets etc. I also fitted a Shakespeare Hawk vhf antenna so should you wish to fit a radio it is a much easier task. I also replaced the hoses to the sink, and cockpit drains. I fitted a new whale bilge pump and all new hosing which can be left on standby and will pump automatically should the boat take on any water whilst you are not there but in two years it has not had a lot to do. Much of the running rigging was replaced and she has 5 fenders so you can come alongside should you wish to. I will dig out an anchor for her as well in case you find a nice spot and the mood takes you. She has a roller furling which is in solid working order. The sails are serviceable although I would have refurbished them in a year or two if I were keeping her. I also had the common rudder post sleeve problem fixed and the galvanised original has been replaced with stainless so she is better in this respect than when she was built.. Hurley silhouettes are dearly loved and there is an active owners association where you can meet other owners, ask advice and even attend sailing events. The Silhouette Owners international association can be found on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/741551759326877/ I would thoroughly recommend that you pop along and check them out if you are not familiar with Silhouettes but be warned their enthusiasm is contagious. I have a second Silhouette Mk3 for sale which is a complete project but she is all there and comes with a lovely mainsail and a trailer which although usable could do with some refurbishment. If you were interested you will have to satisfy yourself as to it’s legality. message me if you would like details or if you would like to do a deal on the both boats. Now all the ebay bits. The boat is available to be viewed in Brightlingsea Essex she is in a boatyard where she can remain by arrangement and subject to the usual fees. I encourage you to look at her before you bid if you are interested. I will happily meet you there and answer any questions which I can. Obviously you are bidding to buy not to turn up and haggle. Buyer needs to make contact within one hour of auction end to discuss payment and hand over. No returns, Paypal or cash on collection only please. Relisted due to complete time waster banglesandspangles who made one excuse after another never viewed the boat and never paid.
