Ambassador is a superb motorsailing ketch which has been mainly used as a liveaboard; that said, she handles well under a full sail or just running with the genoa. She is quite unique, she was built in Holland by Hitters Proost and there is a photo of her just after she was built sporting a spinnaker. She spent some time as a second home in Palma, then travelled the french canals to St Kathrine’s haven where she became a pied-a-terre for two different owners. The masts are on tabernacles and will step to clear the canal bridges so she could easily go back to the Med.I am Ambassadors fourth owner which is not bad for a 40 year old girl. She has been well looked after and I have all the instructions and documents dating back to when she was new, I even have a copy of the architects plans.I bought her as a liveaboard and also to sail, I searched specifically for a spacious liveaboard which could be solo-sailed and Ambassador was the only one I found.I had planned to sail Norway, Denmark and the Baltic but my life path has changed which is why Ambassador is now up for sail. She has a powerful 6 cylinder engine which is very economical. She is keel cooled and the exhausts are dry so there is no saltwater heat exchanger or sea-cocks or pumps to worry about and only minimal maintenance, no faff, just turn the key and go.She has been fitted with a galvanic isolator and this has significantly reduced maintenance too.She has a powerful bow-thruster with a remote control, so coming alongside and mooring is dead easy. She has an auto-pilot which will hold a steady course whilst I raise the sails but to be honest, she has a big hydraulic rudder and once set, she holds her course whilst I hoist the mizzen and that keeps the head to wind whilst I lift the main. The genoa is furling and that can be controlled from the aft deck where there is a second wheel, also with Vetus hydraulics and a second morse control. On the bow there is a 20kg Danforth anchor, a Lofrans windlass and 60m of 10mm chain in the locker. on the aft deck there is a spare 15kg kedge. On the davits there is an 8ft fibreglass rowing boat with oars and a 2hp mariner outboard. On the aft deck there is a locker which four-man lifeboat, day shapes and various warps. There are plenty of fenders, a dozen i think, plus a horseshoe life ring and light. In fact, there is everything you would need to sail her away as I am not taking anything away with me.Inside she sleeps 7Two in the spacious double in the master cabin (aft) one (pilot berth) on the settee in the saloon, two in bunks in the mid-cabin and two in the V-berth in the forward cabin, an in-fill converts the V-berth into a double. There are two heads, one forward and one aft, the aft (in the master cabin has a shower with mixer tap). There is plenty of storage in the aft cabin and some hanging space too.The deck-saloon is light and airy and like the master cabin, it has colour-changing mood (party) lighting in the deck-head panelling; in the saloon, the lights will dance to the music from the DAB and spotify enabled radio. An Airtronic blown-air heating system circulates air into all the cabins and heads so it is always warm. The galley is equipped with a gimble mounted Plastimo 2500 double ring cooker with grill and oven and above this is a an extractor with down-light. The gas bottles are on the aft deck and there is a gas BBQ on the aft deck tooThe fridge is 240 volt but will run off the inverter. In the engine room are two 250 litre fresh water tanks plus one 150 litre waste tank taking waste from the aft heads, compliant with french and dutch waterways; additionally, there is a 70 litre diesel ‘day’ tank. There is a boom tent which covers the aft deck, a pull-out bimini (sun shade) which fits to the mizzen boom too. there is a winter cover that goes over the foredeck and sun covers for the saloon windows, there is also a winter cover for the butterfly sunlight in the saloon roof.Ambassador is currently moored in Hartlepool and the mooring is paid up until AprilThere is a lot of spec and a lot of extras, too numerous to mention.I have loads more photos and loads more info, please feel free to message me through ebay or call / text 07838 622409 and ask.Ambassador is listed elsewhere and may be removed from this site.
