Leisure 23SL for sale
Sadly my much loved boat is up for sale, I had a lot of good times with my family aboard. Due to new work commitments I will no longer have the time to enjoy the use of this boat
I have tried to give as much detail as possible, if you need to know something specific please ask.
Overall a very safe boat for sailing and with children. High sided cockpit with a boom that does not come over your head, the mainsail traveler is also mounted forward of the standing area in the cockpit. All lines to operate the mainsail, jib and roller furling are run back here as well obvious benefits here if you are sailing by yourself.
4 winches in total, 1 each on port and starboard and 2 on the topside, 2 handles for these as well.
Tiller control for sailing and teleflex steering system for outboard control, this also has remote controls fitted and a power tilt and trim and electric start.
Outboard is a 9.8hp 4 stroke, just had new fuel lines and an inspection.
Other deck gear, lines and rigging have been swapped out over the last 3 or so years so have loads of life left. A broad selection of dock lines included within the built in cockpit storage area.
Electronics all working both internal and external. Satnav depth sounder and speed built into one unit, and VHF radio. Navigation lights and cabin lights are all working. There is also a new self steering device that can be set up. I have never used this and have no instructions for it so consider this untested.
Navigation and safety equipment in addition to the above. Compass can be setup on deck and binoculars. There is also an electronic sextant again, I have not used this or have any instructions for this. 2 adult life jackets and children’s self inflating vest (this will need to be serviced as my daughter has deployed it) danboy mounted to the rear of the boat. Foul weather gear for one and safety harness included. Inside there is a coastal flare kit (believe the dates have elapsed however) and a first aid kit.
Inside layout has a table/ double bed arrangement and double V berth to the front. Storage space is bountiful inside, we managed to have everything stored that we would need for a month for the 3 of us.
Manual pumped water system to galley sink, this was forgotten about during the winterisation so would be if it from a flush through. Comes with a sea toilet and a separate chemical toilet also. Sea toilet has seacocks fitted to in and out via anti siphon pipe work viewable through several inspection hatches.
Storage under the V berth currently has spare sails and all the external cushions along with some other basic maintenance gear for the boat.
There are a few bits of maintenance the new owner may wish to do, cockpit hatch could do with some new ply washboards and 1 of the windows would benefit from resealing but even in this horrific weather no water has got in. The interior does look a bit dated but all the cushions have loads of life left in them. I must stress these are only cosmetic issues though. This boat was built in the 70’s so there are a few minor cosmetic bits to do, the boat itself is more than seaworthy and I’d be happy to go out myself today. Overall a few bits to improve but a very usable boat, the bits i’ve mentioned i have included pictures also.
Overall a fantastic boat to have if you are starting out sailing or just need something more manageable single handedly. I’m told the previous owners took her across the channel a few times.
Currently moored in East Sussex, I’m now paying for the berth monthly until sold, the new owner can either continue monthly payments or set up an annual contract or sail away to a closer port.
If you are bidding on this item please consider the storage or moving costs first. This is an auction to own the boat not to have a look or get costs after. Any questions you may have please ask beforehand, i aim to answer them within a few hours.
