Having now retired, I have decided that we have too
many ‘grandparenting duties’ to undertake now, so my Leisure 23SL trailer sailer must go, I just haven’t the time or inclination at my age to carry it on to completion. This Listing is for:-LEISURE 23SL YACHT (Built 1979)(Serial Number 148)I purchased the boat in 2011, with the intention of refurbishing it and taking it down to the Welsh coast, but business and family committments prevented me from ‘cracking on and doing it’. Having now retired, I feel that I am too old to finish it and now have three grandkids that I love to spend time with, so it’s just a shame to see her sat there, crying out to go back on the water. The upholstery was renewed by the previous owner, shortly before I purchased it, and so is in good condition. The boat was only ever used (I’m told) on Lake Windemere, so fresh water use only. It’s fitted with a Volvo Penta MD2 50S 7.5hp saildrive (twin cylinder – petrol), but it was my intention to take this out, repair the hole in the hull, and just use an outboard engine instead. Therefore, I did start to take out some of the engine wiring – in fact, it was also my intention to rewire the boat internally. I have some paperwork that was given to me by the previous owner, which shows that the Volvo Penta saildrive had a major rebuild in May 2000 at a cost of £1000, and I bought it in the summer of 2011 – illness having prevented the previous owner from using it very much in the period 2000 to 2011.When I got the boat, I think the instrumentation had been purchased from Noah after the floods – they were more than rubbish, so they came out with the intention of fitting newer instruments. Again, this has not happened!I have had new interior wall panels made, covered in a grey carpet material used in camper vans, boats, etc. and it’s good quality. They have never been fitted.I still have most of the interior woodwork and tiller, some of which I have already varnished. I also have the old instruments, which I will ‘throw in’, but I don’t think that they work.It has a spray hood frame fitted, and I think I still have the old spray hood at my other place, but it’s not in the best of condition, but could be used as a template. The mast does need new halyards and ropes, but as the sails have been in storage since I got the boat, I’m unable to say what they are like or whether they need new sheets.DIMENSIONSLOA: 22′ 8″BEAM: 7′ 10″DRAFT: 2′ 8″SAILSMain: 125 sq.ft.Genoa: 165 sq.ft.The boat is stored at my daughters farm at Wortley near Sheffield and can be viewed there, but the spray hood and foresail are stored at my old business premises near Huddersfield – I hope to collect and bring everything up to Sheffield as soon as possible. I purchased the trailer separately and had the suspension units, wheels, brakes, and all 5 tyres replaced about three years ago at a cost of over £1500, and the trailer hasn’t done 50 miles since (it was towed empty from where it was refurbished in Keighley to Huddersfield, loaded with the boat, and then towed with the boat on it to Wortley, near Sheffield, and the boat has just sat on the trailer and been stored outside since then. The trailer is very substantially built and meant for a bilge keel boat. If you want to view, please contact me on 07976-533775. This is a lovely little boat, and I am sad to have to let her go, but being realistic means admitting I haven’t the time to make it happen :-(THE BOAT MUST BE COLLECTED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF PURCHASE – MY DAUGHTER NEEDS THE SPACE BACK!PAYMENT IS STRICTLY CASH ON COLLECTION!PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM OUT OF THE COUNTRY FROM 23rd TO 31st MARCH – “YOU-KNOW-WHAT” VIRUS PERMITTING!
