Below is a compilation of various emails from Stuart Roy, son of CSJ Roy:The prototype Wights were 28ft long, using the Macwester 28 hull and there were very few of those about. I seem to remember that they all had white hulls with grey-green deck mouldings. The Mk1 Wight Class boats were 30ft long. There are plenty of those around. The Macwester 30 used the same hull. The Macwester Wight Mk I has a 30ft hull. These boats have sail numbers T1 – T90.The MkII Wight Class boats were 32ft and so were the later Malin class. All the 32ft boats are distinguishable by a half-round style band set high up on the topsides and proud to the surface, not cut-in. The Macwester Wight Mk II and Malin have 32ft hulls. These boats have sail numbers T91 – T295—Thanks for photo. That’s a Macwester 28, centre-cockpit version. I can tell it’s a 28 from the transom and it is confirmed by the survey report. The name in the records is GWYN ALARGH but I think that is close enough for a positive identification as there is nothing else remotely like that name. Your boat is probably Hull/Sail number 392 sold to Mr Frost on 13th December 1968. That makes 5 of this model for you to trace with sail numbers 226, 331, 339, 392, 439. .The standard Macwester 28 had bilge keels. RegardsStuart Roy
