VIEWING BY ARRANGEMENT ONLY PLEASE
I have owned Honey Badger since early 2016 and we have had a great time sailing all over the UK and Ireland including three trips to Dublin and five to the Outer Hebrides in 2019 alone. She is a very stable, secure, long keeled yawl (two masts, three sails). She is well known in many of the marinas and bays up and down the west coast of Scotland and is often complimented on her classic lines and distinctive deep red sails.
Being a yawl (like a ketch with the mizzen overhanging the stern) she has a wide variety of sail configurations including full sail, fore and mizzen only, fore and main only, main and mizzen only. With her addition of the easy reefing lines all fed to the foot of the mast you can reduce sail quickly and effectively when it gets blowy. With the fore reefed a bit, with or without the mizzen, I can reef the main while sailing into the wind without the need to start the engine. Sail handling is very easy and light and can all be achieved by hand, no winching is necessary. The boom is loose, so you raise the main and as you do, it lifts the boom, then you pull down on the clew pulley then the kicking strap to balance the sail.
The sails easily balance to give a very smooth sail and she is very light on the tiller. You can actually leave the tiller and she will happy sail along in a straight line without any input (although she comes with a great tiller pilot). The cockpit is deep, safe, large and comfortable; I often sleep in the cockpit under the stars on a summer night. She comes with two removable tables that can be used in the saloon or the cockpit; one round and one rectangle. Sitting behind and under the canopy you can keep out of the rain and be protected from the wind.
I regularly sail her single handed (over 2500nm single handed in 2019 alone) and she is easily managed. She sits at anchor very comfortably and quietly. She has a max hull speed of circa 6.5kn and cruises along at 5.5kn very happily under sail or on the motor.
The engine is as reliable as they get and starts on the button every time. It is serviced regularly and professionally by a local Volvo specialist and has all Volvo parts. It has the glass-bowl visible filter as well as a coarse and fine fuel filter all replaced every year (I use the motor less than 50 hours per year).
The gas stove has two hobs, a cracking grill and a good sized oven. I have baked bread, made a roast beef, and baked potatoes all while at sea.
I can even include an inflatable dingy and a couple of automatic life-vests (serviced end-2019).
The reason for the sale is I have bought a new boat and I’m not allowed to keep two!

The mizzen mast’s shrouds were poorly replaced in 2014 and the eyes in the splices are badly deteriorated. I would be replacing these next season if I still have her.
The cockpit seating (laid iroko) is starting to look a bit tatty and I would probably plan on refurbishing it in the next few years.
The gas was fully serviced this year with new regulator and pipes.
She has been anti fowled in June 2020 and is ready to go sailing.
