A rare opportunity to buy a truly unique piece of marine or
nautical wall art.
This is an original, fully restored transom from a 1953
William Osborne motor launch.
It comes with its
original makers plate providing provenance as well as its original hand carved
It would make a great focal piece in any pub, restaurant or
sailing club bar. Alternatively it would fit well into any serious salty sea
dogs man cave.
Its significant in both size at 8 feet by 3 feet as well as
It is made from solid Brazilian mahogany. The varnished wood
has a deep dark luster only associated with the very finest selected mahogany due to its slow growth. You simply cannot buy wood like this anymore .
Being varnished you can clearly see repairs and the odd
dink. This only adds to the patina of
something that’s 70 years old. All repairs have , where possible been made using original timber reclaimed from the craft following her decommissioning.
The rear has been left untouched. This I feel allows the purchaser peace of mind this is a genuine vintage item and not some sole-less reproduction.
As seen in some images it comes complete with its period
swimming or bathing platform. This is easily removable to suit your usage. For
commercial uses this makes for a superb way to display goods , merchandise ,
nautical memorabilia etc.
It weighs nearly 100kg, It has a substantial wall hanging frame securely
attached to the rear. However you will need to ensure your wall is up to supporting the
other half !
Collection only from Cheshire.
