Cariba is a “Prospect” 10 metre sailing yacht designed by Van
de Stadt. Built in GRP with mast head rig, 5 berths, 18hp Yanmar diesel motor, galley
with double burner and grill, Jabsco toilet. Wheel steering, depth, log, and
wind instruments by Nasa Clipper and Raymarine autohelm. Navman radio, Nasa
navtex VHF radio and CD player. Anchor winch, roller reefing, Lewmar self-tailing
winches, Rutland wind generator, Kemp mainsail, Genoa, and cruising chute.
Complete with mooring on Loch Hourn, including cradle for winter storage. A
very neat cruising boat with racy lines.
Cruised extensively on West coast with trips to St Kilda, Ireland,
Norway, Northern Isles and Inner and Outer Hebrides.
I purchased this boat in late 2013 when it was in storage at
Kishorn boat yard. Sailed it in 2014 on seventeen outings up and down the west
coast of Skye. Back to storage at Kishorn for winter storage 2014 and all of
2015.
Cariba back in the water late summer 2016 and moved to
Waterloo boat yard, Broadford, Isle of Skye.
Cushions and all soft furnishings were removed from the boat
and have been well kept and in dry storage.
Cariba has not been back in water since October 2016.
In 2019 I was offered another sailing boat at a price I
could not refuse that allows me to sail but the boat can be easily stored
onshore on my own land.
Preparations for this year under way and the boat
will be back in the before the end of June.
