A fine example of a Clovelly Picarooner, Otter was built by Martin Heard of Tregatreath Yacht Yard, Mylor, in 1994.
Otter underwent a full restoration by boatbuilder Reece Jacobs in 2021 to an immaculate standard.
The Picarooners are a sturdy and well-built seaworthy 16ft sailing dayboat, based on the old wooden fishing boats that sailed out of Clovelly to fish for herring. The original mould was taken from one of these old lug-rigged sailing
boats, and converted to a steel centre plate, for the new Heard GRP version.
Otter’s rig is in keeping with the original Clovelly Picarooner design, being a loose footed lug rig.
The Clovelly Picarooner is easy to carry on a trailer and perfect for coastal adventures for up to 6 people.
