( As you can see work in progress) This Eventide 26 is a true classic that was designed by Maurice Griffiths to be sailed on the Suffolk East coastal areas like the River Deben, River Orwell, River Stour and Walton Backwaters as she has bilge keels to lay aground where ever the tide allows in peaceful rivers although a couple have also been known to circumnavigate the globe. This cherished boat has been dry wintered for many years, and the quality of the build is still solid with the best marine ply from the 1970’s when it was good stuff.Accommodation offers a V-berth in fore-peak with stowage beneath and toilet under starboard side with two single saloon bunks port and starboard all cushioned out. The refit to the galley to port side with stainless steel sink, twin burner with manually cold water supply. There is a two burner paraffin cooker with an oak custom built case and gimbals matching the furnished oak trim. There is a Victory paraffin heater on starboard front bulkhead to keep you warm on those cold misty mornings and a brass traditional oil lamp for romancing at night. The exterior brass work included are cleats and fair leads, ensign flag holder and port hole windows. THERE IS NO GAS ON THIS VESSEL.The good bits: New spray-hood made professionally by Wells tarpaulin. New depth and log by clipper. NMEA satalight receiver ready to plug in to most GPS systems, navigation station was rewired 2015. Photonic universe 60 watt solar panel system. New primus twin burner stove, fully working Victory parrafin heater,(there is no gas on this boat). New heavy duty stern engine bracket takes up to 6hp four stroke. Ground tackle consists of reconditioned Lofrans windlass attached to a 15kg bruce claw anchor and 10kg danforth anchor with 40 meters of new galvanised chain. Electric bilge pump, with auto switch and whale manual bilge pump, all navigation lights, icom VHF marine radio with new antenna and cable. The refurbished jabsco toilet new washers and seals, new water pump from a new water bag 80lt tank. Engine was removed 2015 bearers repainted and checked, stainless steel fuel tank removed and cleaned out 2015.For easy single handed passages there is a auto-pilot for popping on the kettle. The Sails and Rigging:There are two fore sails (one hank on and one furling) and one inner or storm sail and the main. Condition of sails are very good. Fore stays and stern are stainless steel. The shrouds are mild steel and could doing with some attention or may need replacing. All bottle screws are new stainless steel and have been replaced by myself. All ropes and lines have been replaced where needed. There is a new block and tackle set up to raise and lower the mast with the lofrans windlass, handy for mast work and going under bridges, while venturing estuaries and rivers to safe havens.Work required: Paint work and varnishing (as all wooden boats do each year) where most paint is supplied. This boat has only ever been painted with top quality international marine paint, the previous owner was fictitious with painting her perfectly. Some of the paint work required, this year, is being carried out (as seen in photo). I’m not going to abandon this lovely boat. There are 500ml tins of international primer and yacht primer, deck paint in light blue, white an dark blue for top sides and cabin, a 4L Joton anti-foul included if not used up by the time she sells. Some attention is also required to the Yanma 1GM engine before going far out to sea (if not using auxiliary outboard that fits on transom bracket for extra back up). I would guess the head needs stripping and cleaning as these raw water cooled engines require after some time, it does run and can be shown running…pumps good water…and has new pump shaft and bearings and seals. I’m not prepared to do anymore work on the engine as I have spent far too much money and time and given already lots of TLC to this boat, hence the price is very low and I have bought a bigger boat that requires time.Would require two new batteries (one starter and one house), although the solar power keeps them topped up.Talland is lying at Fosdyke Yacht Haven near Boston in Lincolnshire, please feel free to go and have a look at her, any enquires or questions please telephone Stephen on 07988205636.My family and I have sailed this boat every year around the Wash and Norfolk coast, so it is up to date and safe. This boat is fun and easy to sail, she is not fast, but a real pleasure and can handle moderate seas. She would suit any new or old sailor looking for adventure and to be proud of the up keep of her and not to clutter the world with another fibreglass or plastic bath tub.
