This boat started life as a Vivacity 20 sailing yacht – the guy I bought it from (who was a retired carpenter) was in the process of converting it to a motorsailer – it was him who built the wheelhouse which has excellent craftmanship. He unfortunately passed away mid-build – I then bought the boat and fitted the outboard well and painted and finished re-rigging the mast etc. I also fitted new wheel bearings and new tyres to the trailer. I towed the boat from Bury St Edmunds to Falmouth in Cornwall this summer where I then launched it into the bay and kept it on a mooring buoy for the week. I should mention I had a 10 hp outboard in the well which was connected to the steering and throttle linkage (which is not included in the sale). Under power you can steer from the wheel in the wheelhouse and I found she went along very well at around 10 knots. When under sail you then just drop down the rudder and steer via the tiller – I was really quite impressed how well she sailed. She comes with 1 main which is in very good condition and then 3 different size foresails including a storm jib. She also has a spinnaker which looks in good condition but I never tried this. We had her in the water for 8 days – 1 day was quite choppy and again I was impressed how she performed – it also towed very well on the back of my jeep – we were sitting at 60-65mph most of the way down. She also comes with 2 anchors, 30 metres of chain. She has a depth sounder/speed log fitted – this comes with instruction manual – the depth sounder works fine – the speed log does not work as it needs a new wheel fitting on the bottom of the hull. I have connected another wheel to the display unit and flicked the wheel round by hand and the speed registers on the display. The reason I am selling the boat is because I wasn’t expecting the whole family including the teenagers (and girlfriends/boyfriends) to be so keen to come out when down in Cornwall – there was 7 of us on it on more than one occasion. Although the boat handled surprisingly well this was cramped so we have decided to buy a bigger boat which we will leave in the water. This boat is very comfortable for 4 to 5 people and will sleep 4 in a the cabin below. The cockpit out the back does require finishing – I used it as it was in the summer but the outboard well needs painting and then I was intending on building a couple of seats around the outside of the well – its up to you what you decide to do with it, as I say, it does need finishing but can be used as it is. The rest of the boat is in good condition – it needs some paint touching up here and there as you can see from the rear photo I have removed my back-up engine outboard bracket off the back so you can either fit another one or will have to paint where this was.
