For sale is our once beloved home FenGuide. She was built in 1930 in Ardrossan for Wisbech as a pilot vessel. She is on the historic ships register number 2442.She also spent years as a fishing boat. I have owned her since 2006 and she has had a lot done to her over the years. I first restored her with a wheelhouse and a gaff ketch rig. Which I later changed to a lug rig when I completely re decked her about 9 years ago. The engine was completely rebuilt in about 2009. It is a very nice Perkins 4236 diesel. She has sails that work but could do with some looking after and repairs where needed. I was in the Isles of Scilly when I re decked her with all new larch deck beams but the only ply I could afford at the time was not great and the epoxy paint sheathing I covered it with was ok for a few years but it has now got water ingress and the ply is de laminating so it needs new deck covering fitting. The beams them selves are still fine. She hasn’t been put on the beach and anti fould in a couple of years and could possibly get that done if she sells for the right money. I sailed her around Devon, Wales, Cornwall,Scillies and the east coast. My children grew up living on her with me and my partner and she has been a wonderful home all year round for several years. Life has now changed and we have found land to settle on. Although we would love to keep her as she is part of the family I know realistically we don’t have the time to give her the attention she needs and deserves. She’s 36ft on deck and 10ft beam. This needs someone with experience of owning and using this kind of vessel or someone with good practical and woodworking skills and lots of enthusiasm. She will need to be moved from my mooring within a short period once sold so the buyer will need to have somewhere to take her. She can be lifted out to go on a loader if needed.
