Believed to have been built in 1973 and designed by well known Dutch designer Van Der Stadt (see the drawing in one of the photos). The hull is of glassfibre with a foam core. The keel is of cast iron. It has an aluminium mast, boom, spinnaker pole, and stainless steel rigging – these have been stored undercover. There are four sails and a full set of good cushions. A new tiller with a stainless steel hinge is currently being made. The yacht has been stood ashore for about nine years. During that time the Dolphin inboard two-stroke petrol engine was damaged by rain water collecting in the bilge. That engine has been removed but the shaft and propeller have been kept. The easiest way to fit an engine would be using an outboard, if you fit a bracket on the stern. You could fit another Dolphin engine back in – if you are eccentric enough. They don’t have a gearbox, so you have to stop the engine and set it running in the opposite direction to get reverse! There is obviously some other work to do on a yacht that has been unused for so long – three of the seacocks are seized, the rigging should probably be replaced, I don’t know if the log and sounder work. There are no batteries. There is a toilet but it will need stripping. The yacht is in a boatyard in Pwllheli, North Wales. Storage will be paid by me up to the date of sale. The buyer should budget about £150 to £200 per month for storage costs after that, but you should be able to launch it within a month or so. The cradle belongs to the boatyard so isn’t included. To anybody dreaming of a live-aboard – the boatyard won’t allow it; what you do after launching is up to you, but you cannot stand up inside this yacht. There is no reserve or buy it now price.
