The Plan. After having chartered for several years, my wife and I planned to take the adventure of a life time, to buy and refit our own boat and then to take our time exploring the beautiful west coast of Scotland over a leisurely eight weeks, exploring all the small inlets we’d had to sail past before. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are having to sell the boat; my wife has been diagnosed with a life changing illness, and so our future plans have altered accordingly. It is our most sincere wish for the new owner/owners to use the boat as we had intended;to trail and explore the beautiful west coast of Scotland and beyond. The Boat.We knew from the beginning that we had to select the right boat for the voyage. We think we made the right choice with an unsinkable 1985 E Tap 23 with trailer, and we’ve spent the last 2 years carefully getting her ready for the trip.As well as renewing a lot of her equipment, we undertook a complete refurbishment of the lifting keel, replacing a guide block, top bearing and bottom seals and giving it a Jotum two pack epoxy paint system. We also refurbished the rudder, bearings, and serviced the shaft, and fitting stainless steel backing plates for added strength. We reinforced the chain plates and rebedded some of the deck fittings. She came to us with an 8HP Yamaha outboard in the well ( rather than on the transom) giving the best of both worlds – having the benefits of an inboard engine but the economy of an outboard with plenty of power and a New E Tap outboard leg / well seal.We fitted a new toilet in the fore cabin and removed, checked and rebedded the bronze sea cocks. We strengthened the tabernacle and designed our own bespoke mast raising and lowering system, allowing one man to operate it alone if needed. Finally, we put her in the water for a week of ‘sea trials’ in the Wash on the east coast. We visited Wells-next- the-sea and Kings Lynn and gave her a thorough workup between the sandbanks of this famous stretch of coastline, making sure every thing works as it should. She responded magnificently and gave us a great week. The Boat comes with ;*Mainsail in used condition, roller furling genoa used condition.*Bruce anchor with chain and new muliplait rope, to make coiling easy.*New cockpit locker seats.*New Upholstry.*New Spray Hood and Stainless steel Frame.*New Dodgers.*New Log and Transducer.*Raymarine A5 Colour Chart Plotter with bespoke bracket so it can be used in the cockpit or rotated out of the way into the cabin.*New Navigation lights where applicable.*New Radio and aerial.*New Battery monitor.*VHF Radio.*Additional handheld VHF radio.*Hand held compass.*Portable gas stove.*New Battery.*Auto helm1000 self steering.*Bespoke Mast raising and Lowering System ( one man operated )*Selection of Charts and pilot books for the west coast of Scotland.*Bramber trailer serviced ready to go, just needs a number plate. We can include in the sale a diesel 2006 Ssangyong Rexton with a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, easily capable of handling the 2 tons “all up” weight of the boat and trailer combined.
