A GREAT WAY TO ENJOY THE NEW YEAR – Out on the water in the fresh air with family and friends.
This is a rare opportunity to become the proud owner of a distinctive, classic British Yacht with a strong lay up built by Victoria Marine in Southampton. It
has been extensively improved with many parts replaced including the standing rigging and has a replacement Volvo engine that is much more efficient than
the original. It also has a new remote bow thruster. ‘Serendipity’ is currently out of the water in Christchurch, Dorset for ease of viewing.
The smart design is brilliant for families or shorthanded and the flexible enclosure makes it possible to extend the sailing season and be comfortable inside the
cockpit in all weathers. The bilge keel arrangement makes Serendipity suitable for all moorings including drying moorings in shallow estuaries allowing her to go
where deeper, single keel yachts could not venture.

This is a classic British motor yacht with a unique deck saloon
arrangement built by Victoria Marine in Southampton. It is a clever design and packaging with quality
build and has all the facilities needed for live aboard or for day sailing. Most of the major items have been replaced in
recent years for added peace of mind.
The high freeboard, bow thruster and optional protected cockpit covers make
this a go anywhere boat, ideal for short handed or family sailing in any
weather. It feels safe and sturdy with a
good turn of speed and a strong, reliable engine. The only item that may now be a useful
addition is a modern GPS and an autohelm and these can be added quite easily to
the existing wheel steering.
One of the great attractions of this yacht is that you don’t get wet
during bad weather. The cockpit tent is
easily fitted and keeps you warm and cosy and the nav seat in the wheelhouse
gives a great view as you sail along. The tent was fitted new in 2018 and can be removed completely, leaving
a very nice open area to sit above the cockpit and aft cabin. The sides and back also clip up so that the top can be
used as a bimini for protection from the sun.
The galley position in the wheelhouse, avoids the need to go below to
cook or make drinks. Everything is to
hand and another bonus is there is no excessive heat build-up in the saloon
Down below, the saloon, with swivelling and lifting table, seats up to 8
people for socialising and is very cosy.
There is a warm air vent for the heating. The saloon sleeps two people, with plenty of
storage on deep shelves and also behind and below the seats. There is a drinks
cupboard with cut outs to hold wine and even a specially shaped hole to fit the
Gordon’s Gin bottle. There is a cupboard to hold glasses and two cupboards
opposite. This saloon is beautifully
cool during warm weather.
To the right there is a double cabin with a comfortable bed, with an
‘airflow’ layer underneath the mattress for ventilation. The mattress cover is removable and washable.
Above the bed is a large cubby hole for clothes, spare bedding etc. There is a
vanity unit with two drawers and a cupboard with two shelves, and a hanging
locker behind. Also a large mirror.
The heads has been fitted with a new electric toilet and there is a
shower with a slatted floor and an electric pump to remove the water.
The cleverly created, private aft cabin has two very comfortable beds
with an airflow layer beneath each mattress.
There is a central unit with two drawers and shelving. Each bed has shelving to the side and there
are two opening windows.
The boat has sailed far and wide and has been over to France
regularly. The design and fittings make life
on board a very pleasant, safe and comfortable experience.
If it helps, I would be happy to send you an independent five page review of this boat carried out by one
of the major yachting magazines when the boat was tested in 1987. Their summary was ‘Easy to sail with a cavernous
interior, Steadfast’s new flagship proves itself a good all-rounder’.
I am also happy to supply a copy of the pre-purchase survey that was completed in October 2016.
