Relisted after a time waster. Please read the description. It is quite thorough and I’ve been honest that the boat isn’t in perfect finished condition.
Here we have for sale my Sunspeed 25. (MANY more photos on googlephoto

Long description to try capture everything.
It is a little known model of boat/yacht however has a great following
due to its large sea bow and large standing Hight cabin (Nearly 6ft!) and its
small drought fitting in almost all European canals.
This has been mine for a few years now. Just over a year ago I started a
revamp project and tore out most of the dated cabin with the intent of
replacing it with something more modern and adding a few more systems
(Pressurised water ect.)
I have installed most of the systems I intended (New water tank,
Pressurised water pump, 240v plugs, oven, new toilet, auto bilge pump etc.)
however as you will note from the pictures I have not finished the cosmetics
within the cabin.
This is due to a few changes in circumstances, mainly I used to work at
sea however since finding out my partner is pregnant I have taken a shore job
and now live over 4hrs from Fareham/Portsmouth.
Due to this the boat has been left sat for nearly a year. The pictures
are up to date (11/09/22) as I recently traveled there to take them. I’ve tried
to be as honest as I can with the photos, I haven’t scrubbed for hours to try
make it look better than it is. I’ve included a picture of the waterline to
give an idea of the fouling on the hull.
There is a large amount of new stuff bought for the boat as well as
tools, oils, roaps, lights ect. in lockers and in the cabin. I will be leaving
these for the new owner.
Electrics
– Unfortunately someone had disconnected my shore power so my battery
has died. I had hooked up a spare battery I have in the cabin just to the auto
bilge pump while I remade the electrics panel at home. – – Fortunately there
was no flooding or water ingress. I brought my manual bilge pump and pumped the
bilge totally dry and left it with the pipework on the boat (on top of the
engine in the pictures) in case this happens again.
– So you will need a new battery for this. (The normal place for the
battery is in the bilge at the side of the engine, it’s only in the cabin
whilst I was redoing the cabin & electrics, all the wiring is still in
place, see the pictures.)
– The main electrics for the engine/alternator (It has a larger alt
fitted) are still totally intact and just need hooking up. I took the 12v
switch panel off and home to modernise it and tidy it all up. I haven’t
finished this but have a commercially bought switch panel that I will include)
There are 12v lights throughout the cabin and cockpit. There are feeds to a
socket for an inverter (old one included, still works) and a 12v feed to the
radio, auto bilge pump and navlights.
– There is a 220/240v system onboard, the shore supply comes into a
consumer panel and this is fitted with an RCD and 2 breakers, one for the
charger and one for the plugs. This is fully intact.
Engine
-Installed is a Volvo Penta 2cyl 5hp inboard diesel engine, this is
coupled to a FWD/N/REV gearbox into a single shaft running a 3 bladed fixed
pitch prop.
-Controls for the engine are in the cockpit with a engine warning panel
in the cabin also with remote stops in the cabin and cockpit.
-The engine has a larger than standard alternator fitted to it which
does great at recharging the battery bank. I previously ran 3 batteries (See
electrics section above) I never had issues with it not keeping up with the
electrical demand even when running a high power inverter.
-The engine was fully internally rebuilt just prior to my ownership and
the engine has done around 50hrs since. (The boat wasn’t used very often not on
sail or shore supply)
– The engine runs superbly, is easy to start and is a lot quieter than
others. (Fuel use is around 1L/hr)
Cabin
As you can see from the pictures the cabin is unfinished but could be
finished in a couple of weekends.
-It has a very, very large V berth at the front that is fitted with new
custom foam cushions, it is fitted with a SUPER king sized bottom sheet and
duvet (however these have sat for nearly a year so I would replace these)
underneath the V berth is 2 benches when the berth isn’t in use and storage
underneath that.
– The side bench is 90% complete, this pulls out into a double sized
bed, and a double sheet fits well. The bench currently has the old cushions on
there that are UV damaged and don’t fit well. Making new cushions is quite easy
and recommended to give it a nice finish.
– Some of the headlining is drooping and could do with replacing (Just a
sheet of hardboard and some leatherette/fabric) especially in the little side
pockets where humidity has got to them and it looks quite bad (see pics)
– The galley is nearly completed. It has a sink with pressurised water
as well as an oven. I haven’t installed a new gas hob yet as I was considering
going full electric.
– Galley storage consists of 3 cupboards with large storage space
– The heads/toilet looks worse than it is. It is around 70% finished, I
have fitted a new toilet and removed all the old insulation (Black stuff in
sink) and put a primer coat on the hull, this is so the entire heads is
waterproof fiberglass, this just needs another few coats over this and
finishing off. I have cut a small slot into the main bilge as a drain and the
intention was to fit a shower above the sink with water draining into the bilge
and auto pumped overboard. I believe this will work very well.
– The vent on the roof of the heads blew off at some point and let some
dirty rain into the heads, hence the small marks everywhere, this is now
reattached.
– Perfect spot to mount a TV is on the heads door. Electric and Arial points
nearby.
Upper Deck/Hull
– All the fiberglass is in decent condition for its age, obviously it needs
a good scrub after been sat for a prolonged period.
– The aluminium mast could do with a good clean. The standing rigging is
getting a little old now but still fully usable. The roapage will need to be
replaced (Well I would)
– The rudder was fully replaced when I bought the boat, using 316 stainless
steel so will last the lifetime of the boat.
– The boat has 3 Keels (see picture), it has a ‘long keel’ in the middle
and has 2 small 5mm plate fins on the sides with weighted bases. The previous
owner has trimmed the 2 thin plates down to the hull, just leaving the weighted
(Important) parts attached to the hull, apparently this is quite a common
modification with these and allows it to fit up just about any canal in Europe
as well as be transported easily. It’s main keel and the 2 side keels weights
are completely intact and unmodified.
– The prop is in good condition.
– The canopy is in fairly decent condition, the outside of it looks
terrible as it needs a good clean with some canopy cleaner (I just didn’t have
the time to clean the whole boat) I have included pictures of the inside of the
canopy so you can see the actual condition. There is a tiny slit in one of the
canopy windows, this now has some clear repair tape over it and I haven’t had
any issues.
– The woodwork needs attention, it all needs sanding back and re
varnishing. Again, the photos show this I haven’t tried to hide it. The
cockpit seating – The main wood supports are fine and in good order but the ply
between them has rotted in the time it has sat so this will need replacing.
– The antifouling was in good condition a year or so ago but could
probably do with a full scrape down and repaint. I normally use Hempel.
– The top deck window/hatch has had some tape around it since my
purchase but is entirely watertight, I was getting around to replacing this but
never got there as it works and is watertight.
– Sails are included in the cabin under the V berth but haven’t been
used in some time.
– Outside the cockpit has 3 storage lockers, which are full of
rope/paint/oils and tools that I will be leaving there for the new owner.
The Berth
This will come with a berth in Fareham (Portsmouth marine engineering
yard) it has power and water. The yard has lift IN/OUT services as well as
showers and toilets. The current cost is £120per calendar month (VERY
reasonable)
Parking is also available.
All in all it is a very good boat that just needs finishing off. I will
be quite sad to see it go but I no longer have the time to finish it and it
would be sad to just see it go to waste. The boat is currently insured and has
its 2022 queens harbour master stickers.
Unless I have to go down for work purposes it is highly unlikely I will
be able to meet you at the yard in person however I will send you the yard
address and keys to your address along with a berth number and contact for the
yard to change details there.
I can meet you in person if you are around the Bristol/South Wales area.
Quite happy to take payment by Paypal so everyone is protected or if you would
prefer a bank transfer sending 75% then the other 25% once you get the keys.
Deposit of 10% to be made on completion of the listing.
After talking with the marina they are happy to hand the berth over with the boat. The new owner would have to pay them a deposit of 2months mooring currently going up to around £130pcm
Current Price: £1600.00
