FOR SALE is our lovely Mach OneI really don’t want to sell this gem of a boat but we have had to take the tough decision to move to a bigger boat because my children have grown to the point where onboard living is becoming too cramped as they race towards teenage loveliness!I can’t have the new boat on Coniston (my birthplace and my favourite village in the world) because the Trust specify a maximum length of 26′ LOA and I need at least 30′ to make the move viable for more than a few months.I bought this boat in 2018 and I’ve gradually done bits to improve her each season – I’ve included a list below – and everything has been done (apart from the simple stuff) by trusted professionals because I either didn’t have the time or the talent – or either! She has been an absolute pleasure to own and is absolutely sublime to sail even single-handed. To that end, I have led the principle lines aft to enable it to be sailed from the cockpit without too much inconvenience. She sails well on the lake and is very stable, even in gusty conditions. She is a very comfortable boat to use and would suit anyone from novice (very forgiving of the odd incompetence!) to the more experienced helm and would be an ideal starter boat for a family wanting to transition from dinghy sailing to keelboats; she makes an absolutely fantastic day sailer which can be sailed directly from, and back onto, her mooring and the onboard diesel is quieter than expected in operation and powerful enough to move the boat smartly in even the worst of headwinds.Built – 1989 approxEngine – Yanmar 1GM10 (1990 est) – 10hp DieselLOA – 24’6”Beam – 8’5”Draft – 3’4”Works carried out as follows;MM – Menzler Marine Engineering ServicesIM – Impact MarineJN – J Nield BoatbuldersRigging had been upgraded in 2015 by previous owner – bought May 2018 from River Ely, CardiffNew engine mounts, stern gland & cutlass bearing fitted winter 2019-2020 – MMNew starter motor, alternator & battery leads fitted winter 2018-2019Wiring loom overhaul winter 2018-2019 – MMWinches stripped & serviced winter 2018-2019 – MMNew NASA Marine Target Wind V2 system fitted (direction & speed) March 2019 – MMNew NASA Marine Clipper Duet system (speed & depth) fitted March 2019 – MM/JNRe-upholstered cabin cushions March 2019 – minor repairs to complete; spare cloth included – (DK Fittings, Kendal)Deck mushroom vent removed & replaced with stainless steel unit – JNRemote greasing system for stern gland fitted May 2021 – MMNew bilge pumps fitted (engine & cabin) winter 2019-2020 – MMNew halyards, gib sheets and mainsheet fitted in 2021 – IMNew boom tent made and fitted April 2020 – IMNew weatherproof cover to coachroof & companionway steps made & fitted May 2020 – IMNew splashboards (smoked polycarbonate) made & fitted March 2020 – JNWindows removed, resealed & refitted March 2020 – JNHull polished & antifouled below waterline April 2020 – JNCabin lining & insulation replaced winter of 2020-2021 (me – not perfect but warm and dry)New keel & Propellor shaft anodes fitted March 2021 – MM (checked Nov 2023; still good)New lazy bag and jack lines fitted April 2021 – IMNew SureFlow water pump, rigid water tank (25 litres), pipes, sink & gas stove & bottle fitted March 2020 – MMDiesel space heater fitted Feb 2022 – MMAntifouled below waterline March 2022 – JNNew pulleys & clutch block to lead lines aft to cabin fitted April 2022 – JNNew UV strip on genoa fitted Feb 2022 – gearbox on furling gear overhauled March 2023 – IMNew Oak tiller handle made & fitted April 2022 – boat restoration team, Steamboat Museum, BownessAntifouled below waterline Feb 2023 – JNNew rudder made & fitted March 2023 – JNNew mainsail made and fitted March 2023 – IMDiesel injector pump reconditioned, injector reconditioned April 2023 – MMNew oil delivery lines fitted to engine May 2023 – MMGearbox & throttle control cables replaced June 2023 – MMNew engine starter battery fitted April 2023 – meNew leisure battery fitted May 2023 – meThat’s not everything but it’s the most important stuff. The engine oils, filters and impeller have been changed every yearI’ve just bought a yard trailer for it to sit on – I’m about to fit new tubes/tyres etc to ensure it is fit for purpose – this can be soldseparately if required or I can leave the boat on it until next season and sell it thereafter. The mooring (No8) is south of the Waterhead jetty in the bay north of Pier Cottage and 50 yards from the Gondola slipway;this is paid for until July 2024 and the storage is paid until March 2024.The mooring was brand new (block & chains made & installed by Martin Knowles) in 2022 and was in good condition whenchecked in November 2023.I really will be sad to part with this boat and I want it to go to a good home where she will be appreciated and enjoyed.I have, quite literally, hundreds of photos and videos I can send via WhatsApp if you wish. She is ready to sail and I’ll gladly give the new owner a morning of my time to help with the launch and run through the systems and procedures. The listed price includes the yard trailer and I am open to sensible offers from sensible and serious buyers but would ask that you either call or text me as I am rarely near a reliable WiFi service due to the nature of my work.Cash or bank transfer with cleared funds prior to receiving a title letter and change of ownership registration wih the National Park Authority and moorings Trust, please. For some bizarre reason, eBay insists that we offer a returns policy – the boat is as described, second hand and sold as seen 16-1-24; Just uploaded the only pictures I can find of the interior- I’ll be going over to the boatyard next week sometime and I’ll get some more then. Sorry- can’t believe I haven’t got any more than that but I guess I’ve just spent way more time on top sailing and I never thought to take pictures of below. Maybe I never thought I’d be selling her?Apologies to all and I’ll get some more as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience.
