For Sale: SY MornaMorna is a classic sailing Gaff ketch built in 1920 by Dickies of Tarbert in Scotland. She is a fine example of a yacht built in that era. She is currently undergoing a refit and is ashore at Fairlie Quay on the Clyde in Scotland.Morna is in need of work, which includes the replacement and repair of multiple frames and timbers, repairs to bow and stern assemblies, the replacement and repair of planks, the replacement of steel floors, and internal refit. The work that has currently been started is getting the boat striped down for repairs, steel floors templated, and some produced.Morna did have her decks replaced in 2008 at great expense, and they are in very good condition, with the original hatches still present. When the decks were replaced, a few frames were also replaced, and a new Perkins 65-hp engine was installed with a hydraulic drive. In 2018, a new main mast was made to replace the old one; this is still in good condition and comes with a new main sail that was made at the same time.Morna comes with all her rigging, but her mizzen mast is in need of repairs or replacement.Unfortunately, a lot of the internal woodwork has gone, but there are still parts in storage, as well as a gas oven, loo, and other bits that were removed. There is a tender that comes with the boat, but it also needs repairs. We are unfortunately unable to carry on with the refit, so we are looking for someone who is willing to take on this great project and bring Morna back to life and return her to the sea. Please get in touch with any questions if you are interested. After a quick sale, we are open to offers.
